So my Mom had a new house built (like 2 years ago!!) anyway, their stairs don't have a railing on them yet. And they are open on one side. They have wood around the top to keep the kids off them.

today we were all downstairs, I was talking to my mom and the girls were playing with toys (or so I thought - couldn't see them directly). Apparently, Nola went upstairs, grabbed a handful of butter (weirdo) and then came downstairs to show me. Only she stopped 4 steps down to show me from the top of the stairs where the opening starts. Buttered hands don't grip well.. she slipped and fell off the side of the stairs (about 8 or 9 feet off teh ground). I screamed. Scared the CRAP out of me.

She hit a houseplant/tree on the way down which broke her fall and she only ended up with a tiny red mark on her cheek. It could have been SOOOOO much worse. My mom got a talking to about the stair railing!!! Thankfully she's okay!

Oh no, my stomach did a somersault just reading, I'm happy that she wasn't hurt too badly.
