With Bryson I gained 30 lbs total and was absolutely shocked when he weighed in at 9 lbs 10 oz at birth. I am not a big person and neither is DH. We are vegetarians and I did not have GD. I only weighed 5 lbs 5 oz at birth and DH only weighed 7 lbs 8 oz so we really weren't expecting him to be that large.
With this pregnancy I've only gained 17 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight and I'm already nearly 36 weeks. I had a midwife appointment on Tuesday and the midwife said she would be very, very surprised if this baby was as big as Bryson was. I've been kind of expecting this baby would be big too just because B was but considering how little weight I've gained I'm really starting to wonder if this one will be much smaller.
What do you think? Do you think this one will be about the same or smaller? Oh and my pre-pregnancy weight was the same for both pregnancies (118). It should be interesting to see!
it's hard to judge by how much weight you've gained, but it can be an indicator... I gained 20lbs with Courtney and 35 with Nola, and Nola was a good bit bigger.
I would guess your midwife is basing her predictions on more than just how much weight you've gained. A lot of midwives are very good at estimating size from palpitating the belly, some are more accurate "guesstimators" than ultrasounds!

I feel like I have been pregnant for a year, but at the same time it has flown by! I think DH and I are in slight denial that a baby is coming. We really need to get ourselves organized and together! LOL. Maybe it will sink in when baby is here?
Its so hard to say....
I gained 64 lbs. when I was pregnant with DS1 (don't ask LOL) and he was 9 lb 3 oz.
I gained 24 lbs with DS and she was 7 lb 6 oz
I gained 31 with Brennen and he was 8 lb 2.6 oz
Both Tatum and Brennen were 20 inches long and Dylan was 21 in.
I did not have GD in any of my pregnancies. OBVIOUSLY, I ate like a cow when I was pregnant with Dylan! At my 37/38 week check ups, my midwife had guessed about a 7 or 8 lb baby just from feeling my stomach and the baby, so it was pretty accurate.
You're going to have that baby before you know it! I can't believe how fast it went by...I still remember the day you posted that you were expecting! My pregnancy really went by a lot faster than I thought it would, too. So excited for you!!!
It will be interesting to find out! I'm really curious to see what this one weighs too! I gained 65lbs (ack!) with Joe and he was 7lbs 9.3ozs. With Jayden I actually lost weight, at the end of my pregnancy I weighed less than I did at my first prental appt!! He was predicted to be very small -- 6lbs, hahaha, he was 8lbs 11.6!!! This time around I've gained 18lbs... so, who knows! Dh and I both think he'll be over 9lbs though.
I think it's hard to say too. I gained 55lbs with Abby, and 45lbs with Anna and she was 4oz heavier. Neither DH or I was much over 7lbs. By feeling they guessed Abby to be born just over 7lbs, so they were a pound off.

How big do YOU think the baby is? The resident at the hospital last time said that moms guess is often closest to being correct. He did the US and then didn't save the info, so he asked me how much I thought Evie was, and I said 8lb 5 oz. She was 8 lb 4 oz, so I was only 1 oz ff!
When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." John 8:7 Sail Back to Me
I can't believe you're so close already!! I think it is hard to guess baby's weight. DH was over 10 lbs at birth (they think his mom had diabetes already at the time, but she wasn't diagnosed until 6 years later when they moved to America from Korea) and I was 9lbs, 8oz. We were expecting Lily to be on the bigger side based on that and most babies on both sides of our family are larger. But she was 7lbs, 6oz and 19 3/4 inches.
