So, someone in my DDC posted a blurb about an article they read in a magazine that you should NOT chose to induce or have a c-section prior to 38 weeks because of high risk of complications, etc. A few people got their panties in a wad and they locked the thread! The OP said it was people, who out of their own convenience, CHOSE to be induced or cut open early, NOT people who need it for a medical reason. Guess it hit too close to home with those who want their babies out sooner than later

Wow, its true though. There are the rare cases baby should be out sooner rather than later, but usually the longer the baby bakes the better.

It's sad that women need to be told that. I can't believe the thread got locked, I'm going to hunt it down now.

It seems like people would WANT thier baby to be healthy and avoid as many complications as possible. If there was even the slightest chance that my baby would not be healthy and it was my choice, I wouldn't do it.

I've read that article. It was like "studies now show that you should wait until 38 weeks to be induced". I was amazed that "studies are just now showing that".

I had to go read it of course, and I really don't see why it was closed. The discussion was not mean or hurtful, it was actually informative. I thought the disagreement was handled well.

I agree! It was information, not being mean, and not misinformation. No reason to lock it. Ugh.

Pregnant ladies do silly things when they get towards the end... like not thinking about their baby's healthy over their discomfort. Makes me sad.

Wow... that is crazy. People just want their baby's out I guess and don't want to hear the other side. Why does a thread even get locked... I've never seen that before?.... Ooo I just read it... I thought it wasn't confrontational until the end... people post stuff all the time to try to show a POV, this doesn't seem much different.

I don't think they understand that just because full term is from 37-42 weeks it does NOT mean that your baby is ready at 37 weeks (or sooner). I've read a lot of posts where at 37 weeks they're doing everything they can to get that baby out... and a lot of 37 weekers have had to be on oxygen and haven't done super great! Each baby is different, they don't seem to get that YOUR baby will come when he/she is ready.

I just read the thread. It wasn't a cat fight until the girl at the end posted what she did. that was lame. It was a nice discussion and she turned it into a fight. Boo on her!

I can understand why the second one got locked. The mods feel that topic is already heated on the board so of course they're going to lock it. the first one was only locked because of that last comment which was totally unnecessary.
