watching Birth day (why I have NO idea)

from the OB "she's comfortable, so we want to start some pitocin" um.... so, because she's not in "enough" pain her labor needs augmented?!

oh, and this mom is already 5-6 cm....

Lol, you think that's bad? A girl in my DDC posted today that her OB is inducing her in a week because of failure to progress... She's only 38 1/2 weeks!! She's not even in labor yet, and they're already pushing it. I guess she's 2 or 3 cm dialated, and her OB isn't happy that there's no change from last week.

That's insane! I hate most of those shows. They are either full of interventions or unrealistic! I like House of Babies on Discovery Health, but that's about it.

Back years ago when I was pregnant with my son I watched A Baby Story a lot...most of the deliveries I would see would have interventions, but at least they were vaginal births. After I was out of babymaking mode I quit watching that stuff, but then started again when I got pregnant this time. Tons of m/s and the inability to do anything but watch tv had me glued to all the ones on Discovery Health. Now, I swear like 95% of the births they show are c-sections! And the doctors just anger me to no end. So, I just had to quit watching them because I could just sense my blood pressure rising. The sad thing is this is what is portrayed to pregnant moms wanting to watch baby shows! And don't even get me started on Bringing Home Baby...I want to slap most of those parents..especially when they are barely trying to nurse and shoving a bottle in the kids mouth..then they do the update 6 weeks later and the mom always says "We couldn't nurse because it was just never comfortable for me..." Argh

I can't stand to watch those shows! I just sit there and yell at the TV lol! I have only seen maybe 3 episodes of it where the women went for and sucessfully had a NCB. Sad!

And yeah our DDC is loco! And induction crazy! They are all sooo upset that at 37/38 weeks they're not in labor, not progressing. And I'm sure I'm super annoying because I'm not posting huge whiney things about how miserable I am and how it's soo not fair I'm not in labor at 41 weeks.. blah blah blah! As if going past the "due date" is soo terrible! Oh well they can have their induced labors and drugs, I'll pass!!!!

Yes, if someone is comfortable, the best thing to do is make them uncomfortable right away. Childbirth should be as miserable as possible.

Wow. I only watched that show once and I thought it was pretty cool because a woman delivered twins vaginally and one of them was breech. I watch A Baby Story but I always change it when it is a c/s. The newer episodes have a lot of NCBs which is pretty cool.

I was watching that yesterday and they did a waterbirth one and then right after, a vaginal birth of twins with one being breach. I was amazed! 2 in a row!

I wonder if they got some letters about all the c/s ones. Last year I watched 2 weeks in a row, 2 episodes a day and there was ONE vaginal birth!! Craziness.

But it seems like lately TLC has been putting more NCB and vaginal births on there, which I like. So I'm wondering if some people wrote in...
