I have an appointment with ob this afternoon. I have some questions to ask about how he does natural childbirth but I am sure I am forgetting something so if you have any more questions let me know. Ill be leaving at 3pm central time.

Can I have a hep lock instead of fluids for an IV?

Can I be monitered occasionally and not stuck to the bed the whole time?

Can I get in the shower if needed? (no birth tub at the hospital )

How far over due will you let me go before you want to induce?

Are you ok with me having 3 people in the room since one will be a doula?

What kind of progress do you need to see once in labor to avoid interventions?

ok ladies add anything I may of forgotten

I would ask what his/her c-section and induction rate is, and what the rooming-in policy is for your baby

Also, if you interested in delayed clamping and cutting the cord, if they will work with you on that

Is the rooming in policy based on the dr or the hospital? I know the hospital will allow baby to stay with me for almost everything and the things baby can't stay dh will go with baby.

rooming in is hospital territory

additional questions can be episiotomy rates & feelings on it
pushing positions
other interventions like vacuum, internal monitoring etc

lol.. I would be flat out and ask him what his opinion is on natural birth. That should tell you a lot!

If it were me, I would simply ask "What would be an ideal birth for you?" and basically ask how they think birth should go, do they see it as something that can happen without any interventions.

I would suggest a hospital tour of the hospital the OB delivers at now...don't wait until later when you are further along.

Most hospitals you can just call up and see if they are busy and walk right in...that way you can get a feel of what there "normal" is.
