overall the video isn't too bad actually. Just a small comment at the end from the OB. But I didn't really see much in the way of scare tactics...

but you probably know her better and what her intention was in passing along the video

I am sorry she did that, its frustrating when someone doesnt support your choices and says/posts things to try to convince you that you are wrong

OMG. That is so annoying. It's amazing that she thinks that you need a "faciliy" to resuscitate a baby that's not breathing. It's amazing that she thinks without a vacuum babies will die (even though midwives carry forceps for those situations), it's amazing that she thinks midwives are not equipped to handle hemorrhage.

Overall it floored me that she said ACOG is trying to "educate" women who want a homebirth. Because, you know, the average American women wakes up and says, "I think I'll have my baby at home." Also she kept talking about mom choosing to have a homebirth for the experience. I could care less about the experience. I am having one because statistically, it's safer.

They shouldn't let people talk about things they know nothing about. Geez, go read a study, woman!

okay, that link makes more sense! lol

I wish they'd present some actual FACTS. As in, such and such percentage of homebirths have this or that go wrong. Speculation and scarring women about risks that a large majority of the time are caused by interventions at the hospital is just ridiculous. But OBs like this woman just don't see the connection... sigh...

Oh gosh, what was she thinking? Especially at the end- for sone reason it seems worse to do it this late in the game. It's not like you are just considering it. Plus you are not some uneducated person who knows nothing about birth.

What did she think that would do anyway?

Well as mad as I was/am about her posting that---she just MOTIVATED THE HEL! out of me! LOL
I can't wait to have an all natural birth at home and SHOVE IT in her face
I should get a picture of her and then when/if I hit a point I don't think I can do it anymore-have someone show me her picture...I think it may just work!

And she wonders why we rarely visit---BOTH his parents do this--they think they know everything about everything.

That's because there are no real statistics to show a home birth is unsafe, it more of just an opinion that some people try to pass off as fact.

I can't watch the video, I'm holding a sleeping baby right now, that would tick me off too though. My mom tried to get me to watch The Doctors episode about out-of-hospital births when I was pregnant to "educate" me and I wanted to slap her!

Im sorry Angela!! I cant believe she did that... Does she think that you are going to watch the video and go "oh shes right I should transfer to a hospital immediately". WTH? Find a video opposing hospital birth and send it to her. Let us know how the "talk" goes.
