Talked to someone at work about this today. She's always kinda given me weirdness about home birth (not really against, just thinks it's kinda odd). Her first comment was "enough to make you run from the hospital!!" Sad, just sad...

Pure craziness......and true. What's actually worse than that is that at one hospital where I worked they would plain out tell women "You aren't progressing fast enough or you were given three hours to push and didn't do it so you are going to have a c-section." No hint of choice in the matter. They know that most of the women are poor, uneducated and/or illegal and have no idea of their rights.
OMG!!! That's awful and it should be illegal! It's one thing to give pit knowing it increases the chance of section, etc. It's quite another to intend to cause harm to a fetus and therefore require a section - I would say that's battery!
It's been interesting the response I've been getting after sharing this on Facebook. One friend who ended with a C-section is now questioning if this was done to her since her baby was categorized as "fetal intolerance to labor". She now questions whether THEY created the intolerable environment. And that's what it's all about, making people question themselves, their providers and then educate themselves.
