Still hard to believe that I'm in the Third Trimester now! Saw my midwives on Monday and had a blood draw to check iron levels and for the Glucose Screening. Thankfully, Glucose test came back perfect She said it was at 100, which is right in the middle of where they like it to be, and I'm so relieved! On the down side my iron levels are low, just as we expected them to be. I've always been on the lowest end of normal for Iron count (36) and had to end up taking iron pills when pregnant with Rayne... so it's really no surprise. Makes me nervous though because I believe she said if m;y Iron drops bellow 30 they won't take me at the Birth Center ... and I'm at 32. So I'm on a liquid natural iron supplement that I have to take twice daily.
The appointment itself went great, I love getting to see my midwife Valarie. My mom came this time so she could see the place and know how to find it. I've been having tons of sciatic pain, something my yoga hasn't helped with and I was starting to realize it may be an alignment thing. Sometimes the pain is so bad I can't move. Val showed us a great little trick that so far has worked wonders! She had me lay on my back with my knees up, but keeping my feet on the bed. She gently pushed my knees together and had me pull them apart until I heard a little pop! Baby is head down and doing great, I'm really starting to feel very excited for October to get here!!!
If they retest your iron again and it is still low, you can ask for injections. I hope it all works out well with the liquid supplement and you have no issues delivering at the birth center I was very anemic PRIOR to getting pregnant and was shocked when my iron was fine in my third trimester! I do eat a lot of spinach and beans though
