Had some interesting discussions with Courtney today! lol I was watching Baby Story today and there were several c/s. So of course she asked. I explained that sometimes they have to cut open the mommy's tummy and take the baby out that way... then later she saw them administering an epi for someone so I had to explain why they were giving her "shot".

Based on that conversation...

It apparently only hurts to have a baby if you have your tummy cut (and she makes a scissors sign on her belly when she says it ). But if you have the baby in the bath it doesn't hurt (she watched Nola's birth). I tried to explain that it still hurts but she didn't believe me telling me "but not in the bath!" And she says "we don't want them to cut your tummy to get the baby out" Oh, and baby's only have blood on them if they cut the tummy!

It was such a cute conversation We've been prepping her, can you tell? hahaha Lately we've been focusing on how to tell boys from girls because we are giving her the job of announcing the baby's gender at the birth. At first she thought you could tell from their hair!! hahahaha

lol that's cute! One of the first things my boys looked for was a penis, my 8 yr old was still pretty worried that Hunter might pop out a girl. Total relief when he seen a penis lol.

I think Courtney might be dissappointed if we have a girl. She's been adamant from the beginning that the baby is a boy because "we already HAVE a girl".

The other day I accidentally slipped in a "her" in our conversation and she picked up on it right away "Mom! did you say "her"???" She's pretty observant (and no, we still don't know, just suspicions )

How cute is that?!! I love that she was obviously so positively impacted from watching Nola's birth. You have already reared a little girl who will one day become a woman not afraid of birth because of what she say in you. You must be so proud, of yourself and her.

I do feel really good that she has such a positive view on birth. I'm trying really hard to put a conscious effort into teaching my girls that things like birth and breastfeeding are normal and natural things.

I'm glad we had the discussion on c/s. Its good for her to know that sometimes babies are born in a different way.

That is too cute!!! I also love that she's announcing the sex! My 8yo saw Oliver born and she was so moved, though she said it was kinda gross, that she wants to be an L&D nurse (midwife maybe??). I thought that was great despite everything she saw me go through.

I'm not actually apart of this board, but I saw the title of the post and had to read it. That is too cute. 4 yr olds definitely have different views on things. What fun to announce the gender, too.

Super cute!

Ican't imagine having V at my birth. I showed her some pictures from her birth and she got upset and cried. She STILL talks about it and it was almost a month ago. Much to sensative at this point

Although when e were at our USa few days ago she asked the tech if she was going to look at my nipples. I guss she figure since we were checking the baby we would check the babies milk.

That is so cute!
It sounds like you have a very thoughtful little girl on your hands!
DS#1 is 2 1/2 years old and he is still trying to wrap his head around the fact that babies grow in mommy's tummy. He just thinks that is so weird. We haven't progressed to actually how the baby got in mommy's tummy or how it will come out of mommy's tummy. Those will be real mind blowers for him I'm sure but he's not ready for that yet.
