Just got back from L&D. I was having lots of Braxton Hicks yesterday (went away with lots of fluid and putting my feet up) and today I was feeling really crampy, with low backache. Plus, I was having more watery discharge (TMI, I know). Anyhow, my midwife wanted me to get checked out, so I did. Everything turned out okay. My amniotic fluid looked great on U/S and the fluid that they tested that was leaking was not amniotic fluid, thank God. Little guy was flipping all over the place. He did NOT like the monitors on him, LOL.
Anyhow, I'm so relieved. Oh yeah, the nurse that I had was awesome! She has had three home births so it was really comforting to have her around.
My midwife just wants me to drink alot of cranberry juice, get lots of garlic, etc since she said that she's had patients who have clean urine, but then show up with a UTI (their urine is so dilute from trying to stop BH's that the UTI is missed at first).
phew! Interesting to have a L&D nurse who had 3 homebirths, that must be an interesting job for her.
I know!! It was crazy. When she asked me if I was planning to have a homebirth after she found out that I have a midwife I was a little hesitant to answer at first. She says "That's awesome. I had three homebirths myself!"
She also said that "alot of problems are caused by stuff we do on L&D!" I thought that I was dreaming!!!
