..are all these safe to apply during pregnancy??? I know that most people would say yes, but I figured if there WAS an iffy no about any one of them, you ladies would know about it!

~Antiperspirant deodorant (I read that pregnant women don't even produce the smelly sweat, but I still want to apply it before work)
~Dandruff shampoo
~Tylenol (I have TERRIBLE sciatic pain)

I used deodarant and my baby girl a OK...

Although with her here now I haven't been using much of scented products because I don't want her to get my scent mixed up...

And I can tell you with the hormones and what not with post-partum my B.O has been strong and embarassing...

you could get deodorant that is aluminum free (which is much better for you anyway) do you have a whole foods near you? I've tried a bunch of different kinds and this is the one I like best-

Tea Tree Oil Stick Deodorant with Lavender Oil | Desert Essence

I don't know about dandruff shampoo....

there are wonderful yoga stretches you can do for your sciatic pain. Google yoga + sciatic pain. Also a nice prenatal massage can do wonders.

I personally feel uncomfortable with traditional deoderant ingredients- I use tom's of maine brand- the lavendar smells devine and really works. Traditional deo has been linked to a increased risk of cancers, specifically lymph node/breast cancers..... which makes sense- your skin absorbs so much, so you should use the most natural products available imo.

As for dandruff shampoos- they're typically pretty harsh... I only use parabeen free shampoos, and SLS (sodium laurel sulfite) free shampoos. They are much safer, and the cleansing agent is coconut based in the one I use, rather then labratory made as most drug store 'poos are. A little bit more pricey, but well worth it to me.

safefetus.com is a good place to look up drug info. tylonol is typically found safe in pregnancy. However you could look up and do research to lessen your need of that type of relief. There are a lot of more natural treatments that may be helpful. I'd reccomend this book- corney title, but wonderful info and a great start to more natural ways to take care of yourself and your body. Neither the deodorant or shampoo is likely to harm the baby. Using a natural product is always safer though.

For sciatica, you can try Tylenol but it never touched my pain In my first pregnancy, sitting on a birth ball gave me relief (I rarely had pain after I started using it). In my second pregnancy, that's what aggrevated my sciatica. I think it just depends on the position of the baby. You could try it though and see if it helps!

Thanks so much for all the info and advice ladies! I've been wanting to switch to aluminum-free deodorant for a long while now, once I read about its link to certain diseases. But I wasn't really sure of where to start. Now that DH has gotten a raise, I can finally look forward to "upgrading" our body cleansing products.

I've tried various stretches to ease my sciatica pain, but they only seem to aggravate it more. Sometimes I feel like the only option left is to just stay in bed all day (though, even laying down hurts most of the time, but not as shockingly sharp as when I'm moving about). I'll have to try yoga moves targeted specifically for that. Thanks again!

I buy self care products pretty rarely, and I've found that since I've switched to heathy, quality products I buy and use less quantity- so the cost difference (tho worth it by far!) hasn't made an effect at all.
