I delivered my other two children naturally, the first in a hospital and the second in a birth center. There are pros and cons with both. Now I want to deliver naturally, but have an episiotomy which wasn't an option in the birth center. I had horrible tearing last time and the recovery was so much worse than having the episiotomy.

So I'm thinking of delivering in a hospital with a midwife. I would be happy to use an OB/GYN so long as they are open to natural birth and not pushing meds down my throat.

Any recommendations on practitioners in Maryland?

I am in Maryland but I drive over to Arlington to see Karen King, CNM at Virginia Hospital Center. I did not get a drug free delivery but I was supported the entire way in my desire to have one and really I had an all around great experiance despite the circumstances (induced for pre-e, 32 hours of active labor, vaginal delivery with epis that i asked......begged...for) I felt like they had a great balance.

Anyways I don't know where you are located but I've driven from Baltimore (and now Southern MD) to see her. She is in with Alrington Women's Center and I like all the doctors in the practice but her patients are always given a natural birth deference in the hospital.
