I know this isn't exactly related to "natural childbirth", but hopefully ya'll won't mind me posting about it here. I may also post about it in my DDC.

Saturday morning DH started the process of encapsulating my placenta. The pills turned out great! I've already taken a few, and they don't taste like anything. The process of making them, while kind of gross , was quite fascinating. Gwydd wasn't bothered by it at all... but he's rarely grossed out by anything, haha.

Anyways, if you want to check out my journal entry about it, feel free! Warning, very graphic pictures!! pregnant_niamh: Our Placenta Encapsulation

Again, I hope it's ok that I posted about this here.

mmm placenta jerky LOL! Thanks for posting. I'm thinking about doing this - but I would have to be the one cooking it up as it were - can't imagine DH touching it LOL!

Glad it wasn't too off-topic! I remembered the other chick posting about her encapsulation here too, so I figured it was ok.

Britt, I'd love to see how your's goes!

I still need to get supplies. Those are great pictures! I may do it this weekend. A month after the birth. Haha.

btw, is your husband a Marine? I think Marine whenever I see 29 Palms or any other location with a Marine base.

Yeah, my DH is a marine... but I was also born and raised in 29 Palms.

Loved reading about it and seeing the photos! The baby side of your placenta is kind of beautiful, if that's not weird to say? the other side made me go 'eww' too... haha. Thanks for sharing!

Here's a website that seems to have a pretty good explanation Jessa: Placenta Benefits.info - Medicinal Benefits of Placentophagy

That's really cool, thanks for sharing it with us! My midwife mentioned someone she knows that does this and I would really like to have it done after my next baby.

Andrea beat me to it.

The placenta is filled with tons of nutrients. The three main benefits it has for the mother is that it decreases the risk of postpartum depression, it increases your milk supply, and it increases your energy.

Ditto to what the other ladies said...Just think of it as your bodies very own, perfectly made to fit all of your individual needs, completely natural hormone regulator

That is so cool! I really want to do it after I have this baby...I just don't think that DH or I could handle doing it ourselves. I need to find someone who will do it for us. I am nervous about the hospital storing it properly for us so we can take it with us.
