The first thing I told them when I arrived was that I didn't want pain medication or an epidural. I didn't want to be asked about one and I didn't want to asked about my pain levels. I told them that if I felt I needed one, I would ask. I agree to do the blood work (I needed it for the cord donation anyway) and the hep lock just in case. I also allowed the doctor to discuss the options available to me along with the risks but once that was all said and done, they left me alone. My MIL was a different story. The first words out of her mouth when she arrived were "When will she get the epidural?" You should have seen her face when my husband told her I wasn't having one (eyes bugged out) and not to bring it up again.
