A natural birth means no pain killers or chemical induction methods. Many prefer not to even have an IV for fluids. You might take something after the baby is born, but not until then. To do so would mean that the delivery isn't natural.

That said, have you discussed your fears with your SO? Your doctor/midwife? Natural birth isn't for everybody. I really suggest that you talk to your support people and do a lot of reading to decide what's right for you and your baby. This will be my first natural (if successful) with the last three involving an epidural and two of those involving Pitocin. I'm sure the others would be more than happy to answer your questions based on their experience and vast knowledge though.

Welcome!!

Anna is right that natural birth is when you do not have pain meds during labor. There are lots of ways to achieve this and we'd be happy to help you in any way.

It's completely normal to be afraid but through educating yourself you can overcome those fears and have a beautiful natural birth. I hope to get to know you better!

NCB is without pain killers, and to me without inductions or interventions also. I had pain medication with my first birth and it wasn't worth it, for me. I went completely natural with my second and it was amazing and all my future children will be this way provided I am healthy enough.

We have a troll ladies. She posted in Unplanned Pregnancy about an hour after this post that she would try to tell her mum soon and act happy about being pregnant.

http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f1...o-parents.html (best way to brake the news to parents...?)

Oh and she also posted that she was 5 weeks on one board and then said she was 6 weeks on another board and the posts were only 6 minutes apart.

LOL, okay I'm glad you pointed that out. I was beginning to wonder if I was just being super defensive by thinking it was someone playing around!

i guess im one to hope for the best in people...her mom might've said something just in normal conversation about ncb being the best...my mom died when i was 17, but my whole life she told me the natural birth was the best option, etc.
