i know this is OT but i figured i can ask here.

i didn't start cding Sarah till she was 9 months old, so we really only used BG's. i plan on using prefolds with this one until he/she is big enough for the BG's. so i am registering for 30 nb and 30 small unbleached chinese prefolds. for those of you who are cding/cded, what kind of covers do you like best? i am thinking thirsties duo wraps look good. all suggestions appreciated!

yes, along with bummies whisper wraps or whatever they are called. But 30 diapers is A LOT. You will not need all those by a long shot, unless you only wash every 3 days. Or maybe you change way more often than I do!!!

I love my thirsties duo wraps! I'm getting by just fine on 2dozen prefolds and washing every other day.

I used Thirstie wraps, not the duo's so whatever kind that is. I really liked them. We used Kissaluvs while she was a newborn. I Kissaluvs! They are so soft and SO cute! But also they work really well.

I have 36 prefolds and then about 10 covers because my friend lent me some of hers. I love the Thirsties XS and Thirsties duos and I usually end up washing every 3 days.

Another vote for Thirsties, I love the Dous and sized covers. We're using prefolds as well. I have 18 nb that he's just now outgrowing. I wish I had gotten a few more of them because he was soaking through them in under an hour during the day and screaming to be changed (I ended up adding a microfiber towel and that helped a bit). So if you have a heavy wetter you may end up needing 24-30 unless you want to wash more often.

We had a few types of covers, but I don't remember exactly what they were. We bought a lot of Kissaluvs and covers from DiaperSwappers and there were 2 covers included with that and I bought 2 Thirsties covers to go with it. We used Proraps most (I think?) becuase they had the cutout for the umbilical cord and I really liked that. The Thirsties were great once she got older, but we switched from fitteds to BGs when she was about a month old and stopped using those altogether.

I use wool. I knit my own longies and put them over flannel prefolds I make.

I had 28 nb size prefolds with Israel and was washing every other day, but it wasn't quite enough. He pooped like 12-13 times a day (until I figured out I had a hindmilk/foremilk imbalance) and I just needed a few more to get us through the wash/dry time. This time I'm going to have 36.

I really like my Thirsties Duos. The Sz 1 have a slightly shorter rise (on the smallest snap setting) than the xs do, so they work great for newborns. And I also really like Bummis Super Whisper wraps.

I Have the thirsties duos too. My question is: are these really going to fit over a prefold? The prefolds look like they will swallow a newborn! Has anyone used them for a newborn? Or do I have to get different prefolds till she gets bigger? Sorry to hijack.

I have GMD prefolds and they work just fine. I use Bummis and Thirsties covers as well. I found I really preferred the KL0's to anything else though until her cord stump fell off.

They do have different sizes. Green Mountain Diapers have an orange edge that is a newborn size.
