he's become quite the activist! haha

Last night a friend of his asked him (online chatting) how much we paid out of pocket for each of our babies and where we had them. His wife was asking and doing some research (no idea if they are TTC or anything).

So DH tells him...then goes off about circumcision....then goes off on a tangent about homebirth....then why to avoid the hospital...then breastfeeding... LOL it was pretty awesome. I've totally converted him.

some gems from the conversation (and please, no one be offended!!)

"also, if she's keen on being in the most illogical birth position and the most uncomfortable circumstances possible... while having your baby doped up... the hospital is a grand choice
Seriously... when's the last time you said "I gotta go poop... I think I'll lie down"

" in a hospital, the baby is immediately snatched away and not allowed to bond with the mother when it is the most important. Then later on, the mother has difficulty breast feeding... hmm... wonder why stupid hospital baby snatchers"

(regarding breastfeeding - and he did point out there are medical reasons not to breastfeed)
"It's like, if you had an orange tree outside that naturally grew with a faucet on it... and you could just go outside and fill up a pitcher of fresh 100% OJ anytime you wanted... would you seriously say "No way" and instead purchase watered down OJ from concentrate for an inflated price?"

"Either way... once you guys are pregnant... I strongly encourage you both to do your research... too many people just take the baby routine for granted, and end up jilted... financially, morally, and ethically"

yeah... can I just say I love my husband. I love that he's become as passionate about this stuff as me and is willing to talk to his friends about it. And as it turns out, though they have never discussed it, his friend actually feels the same way! Very cool

That's too cool! I was cracking up when I read how he phrased some stuff. Typical guy! I can see my DH doing the same thing.

That's awesome! I wonder what my DH says to his coworkers and stuff? He was so anti-cloth diapering, anti-birth center, etc. Now I love watching him change Ashlyn and put her in a sling, etc. It's amazing how much their views can change!

Awesome My DH is like that too, he was telling me earlier about a conversation he was having about having a doula and all the benifits.. I was like awww, sometimes he will go off about breastfeeding on ppl, if they make the mistake of criticizing it or saying we shouldn't..

OMG, I read the poop line to my husband and he laughed so hard. Then he looked at me and said "I think that's about the best comparison EVER!"

I LOVE this!! Seriously. I was just saying on FB the other day how NO man would ever give birth on his back, seriously. I can just see someone saying "ok, so don't poop for 3 or 4 days, until it really hurts, then try to do it lying down." Um yeah, real productive.
