I just bought a liquid supplement with different herbs and roots in it by the company "Mountain Meadow Herbs" called Gentle Birth. It's supposed to help with toning your uterus and get your body ready naturally to make for easier births...

Does anyone know anything else about natural herbs and herbal supplements?

I'm really curious about any positive encouraging information from anyone? :0)

Thanks ladies!!!

I usually just read the posts in here, but I have an answer for this one! lol. I was talking to my acupuncturist about this yesterday!!! He said I could take black or blue cohosh in last 2 weeks of pregnancy to produce longer, more efficient contractions during labor. Red raspberry leaf in last half of 3rd tri to tone uterus (I can't take sooner as I am at risk for preterm labor). Evening primrose oil can be used to help ease baby out too. But herbs haven't been tested to see how much each person should take, so I wouldn't use unless an expert was working with you. You shouldn't use herbs/sups if have any blood disorders or anemia. Pineapple and kiwi have something in them as does eggplant that help tone the cervix. He told me what it was, but don't remember... Hope that helps anyway!

hhm.... I am not so sure about the cohosh. I guess there are mixed opinions on this but I would not use those unless I was very overdue and needed to get baby out.

you could also drink nettles tea to up your vitamin K to reduce chance of hemorrhage. Maybe the stuff you bought has some? I assume it has red raspberry leaf in it as well.

My midwife suggests something like that, can't remember exactly which one, I am not at home so I don't have my notebook with all of that info. You start taking it at 35 weeks and it's supposed to "prime" your body and help you have an easier birth, like you said. She said she suggests it, but it's optional. I think I will choose to take it when the time comes. There are a couple of things that she requires you to take, right now, prenatals durived from plants and/or vegetables and red raspberry tincture or tea, she adds a couple of other supplements after 25 weeks or so, one being nettles and the other, I can't remember. LOL Maybe I should of answered this when I had my stuff in front of me.

I agree with Cheryl about the cohosh. I wouldn't take it unless I was really overdue. It can cause some pretty intense contractions.
