so, my daughter is getting over having walking pneumonia, and she has been coughing in my face for over a week. now i feel achy like i am coming down with something. i am a little freaked out at the prospect of possibly having to take antibiotcs. should i be worried or am i over reacting? any words of wisdom? i haven't called my doctor yet to even ask about what i should do.

I'm pretty sure taking anti-biotics in pregnancy is ok. There might be some that are more ok than others. But it probably comes down to whats worse? Having pneumonia or taking meds? Probably pneumonia. Just my thoughts.

it's more of an issue in the first trimester. i know it's linked to poor tooth enamel. i had to take it when pregnant with walter for a terrible uti, and then with sam for an abscessed tooth. both kids are ok so far. they do have ones that are on a safe list for pregnancy.

I didn't think pneumonia was contagious? I have heard that antibiotics during pregnancy can increase baby's chances of asthma, but not sure how valid that really is. Of course you have to do what you need to but I personally would be sure I really needed them, which I know you will do anyway.

Hopefully you are just coming down with a tiny cold and nothing too serious.

i am feeling a lot better now....but earlier i felt like i had been hit by a truck, i was achy like i was getting the flu or something...but once i took a shower and got moving and spent some time outside i started to feel fine. i am just going to up my liquids and eat some garlic and hope i don't get sick. i definitely won't take anything unless it's absolutely necessary.

I took antibiotics in my 2nd trimester this pregnancy because I cought strep throat from my son. I was told that there was minimal risk from the antibotics and the risk of non-treatment included a sustained fever was much greater than any risk from the medicine.

I was on flagyl several times for a bacterial infection that was causing PTL. No issues here. I think the only issues are when you are in your first trimester.
