We have the same thing here. Kate has had a fever for 24 hours and a runny nose. No other symptoms though.

Sorry no advice for home remedies!

If it make syou feel any better Kate is EBF and she still got sick! They just get sick sometimes, don't stress!

google cold sock treatment, it's GREAT for fevers and stuffy noses when sleeping. You need wool socks though.

hylands has a cold formula for kids

elderberry syrup (kids)

badger sells a winter balm, like vicks

you can diffuse oils into the air- The use of essential oils for colds, flu, bronchitis and congestion

Homeopathic tablets: oscillococcinum

Although I'm not sure if kids can have them. I looked at walgreens and CVS today and can't find them.

Are you still producing milk, could you pump?

Chamomile tea, kiddos can have that. It's very calming and soothing and helps w/ sickies.

Add lemon juice & honey to the tea (or add it to orange juice - Simply Orange) w/ a nickel size slice of ginger root.

Essential Oils
anise oil
balsam oil
bergamot
eucalyptus
rosewood
tea tree oil (you can find this at walmart, cvs, walgreen etc... it's w/ the vitamins)
thyme oil (or if you have the herb or buy it at the store you can cook w/ it or add it to her tea/orange juice)

How to use essential oils here (How to use Essential Oils).

Do you have a humidifier? I run one at night and it does help, especially if you can add peppermint or plain mint oil/extract, or some kind of menthol stuff. When Liana was little & had breathing trouble/major stuffiness I'd turn the bathroom into a sauna by closing the door & running the shower on hot to steam up the room. Yes, it wastes energy and water, but when you have a gasping little one... The Breatheright strips do help, if you don't have any you can try making one with a 1/4" or so thick by 1" long piece of tape, put one end just behind the nostril flare part on each side, you may need to play with it a little to get it - it should gently flare/open the nasal passages. Witch hazel wipes can help lower fever, you can soak a paper towel or thin cloth and wipe it over her body, esp. the forehead, back of neck, armpits, back, thighs - or at least those are Liana's hotspots. I hope something, anything helps & she's feeling better soon!!

It seems to be the same in my area too. So disappointing... The closest store is an hour away.

She is still snotty and coughing - she won't drink anything but water (cant mix anything in, she won't touch it) and im not producing any milk at all ....

we have been running the humidifier since wednesday night, she hasnt had a fever at all..and we can't find wool socks in her size (sam does the wool sock thing when he is feeling icky) and the big ones she just pulls off....

we see her pedi tomorrow (already scheduled 15m check since august, not taking her in just cuz of a cold), who is pretty into homeopathy for colds, etc so hopefully he can give us some insight....thanks for all these tips, they're great! she is just the worlds pickiest little human...wont drink OJ, apple juice, grace juice, milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk..nada!

she is on a probiotic and 1000iu of Vit D
