My friend who is due December 1st, has been complaining that she's sick of being pregnant on Facebook. Today she posted that she's being induced next week, if baby doesn't come on her own by then. And that she won't be spending Thanksgiving at home with her family, etc. Umm - Hello!!!!!! You're choosing to be induced BEFORE your due date, for reasons none other than convenience and now you're going to complain??????

Alright, let's continue with the baking metaphor everyone loves.

Every oven is different. Every cookie is different.

So, sometimes when you're baking, you open the oven door, and you realize that the cookies need 5 more minutes. No big deal, close the over door.

Now, babies aren't like cookies. We can't put them back in the oven to finish once they're out.

An induction is like an oven that has a lock where you can ONLY open the door when it's time to pull out the cookies, and it knows EXACTLY when the cookies are done, but you're jiggling the handle in hopes of breaking the latch. And when that doesn't work, you take a blowtorch (c-section) to the top of the oven so you can pull out the cookies that way.

Doesn't anyone see how silly that is?! COME ON! Just wait that 5 more minutes until the bell goes DING, and take out your cookies!

Oh boo hoo for her.

Ridiculous. She made the decision and if it's so important for her to be with her family on Thanksgiving, she can always unmake that same decision. It is an elective induction. Not a critical life or death triple bypass.

Birthing Beautiful Ideas | How Hospital Policies can Help to Prevent Premature Births

This is SO IMPORTANT, and may help us to educate more women in the future. Most people will agree that the March of Dimes is THE authority on pre-term birth, and are more likely to trust it. Please, ladies, bookmark this link. Use it when you need to, and present it gently. Make sure to point out that the information is from the March of Dimes, and it might be worth reading. Nothing else needs to be said, the facts speak for themselves.

Hm.. I'll admit I'm tired of being pregnant too.. but I'm not going to be induced next week or any other week for that matter. I was tired of it with DS by the very end too. I learned from his birth though that at the very end when you start feeling that way, you're really close to going into labor anyway!

She's so close to being done, sooo close. Why not just let it happen on its own. Or if you're so ready to be done, try the natural stuff!

Lol, see!!!! Just about that time where you're miserable and thinking "ALL I want is for this to be over!" is just about the time you're done!

Did she deliver spontaneously? If so, it's pretty nice for her that her baby decided to come early.

Now, of course, I have to add my two cents (even though now it's pretty much a moot point).

I hate this mentality of instant gratification. Seriously. The last month or two of being pregnant can be REALLY sucky. I'm not saying otherwise. I know how frustrating it can be to wake up pregnant, knowing, just knowing, "today is the day" and then going to bed pregnant... again. Alright, we get it. Being pregnant is hard.

Now, DEAL WITH IT! It doesn't last forever and even though you don't think you can stand to be pregnant one more second, every moment your child spends developing and growing safety in your womb is more than worth it. Babies should be allowed to come when they are ready. Impatience should have no factor in when a baby is born!

Yes she did deliver spontaneously. I'm glad she didn't have to be induced, but it's frustrating that she got her way! lol

Glad to hear the induction wasn't necessary. The baby probably got wind of it and decided to come on it's own terms!
