This is xposted because I don't know what's going on and any insight you ladies can give me is much appreciated!

So, I've recently found out that a few women I know on another board here didn't receive a + preg test until they were even up to 8wks pregnant. How is this possible? I've never heard of this before and now I'm back to wondering if I'm pregnant again because AF still hasn't shown.

I have 29-31 days cycles and AF last came on Oct 20th or 21st. DH and I pull out but there was one night where he may have gone a bit inside.

Does it have to do w/ HCG levels not being detected on the test yet? I've taken 4 tests in the past week and all are negative. My most recent was this morning. Not even the faintest line ever.

I don't want low HCG, I've already miscarried twins in '08 I'd hate to have another one if I am and just have low HCG and will m/c soon.

I just thought it was strange, I've never heard of that before about a preg. test not showing up + until weeks later, I thought it always showed up by at least 4.5 wks!

I just need some help here, I'm so confused I'm on day 40 in my cycle HOW is that possible?

Also, I have no symptoms. Last time that happened was with my miscarriage. I thought I could bring AF on by intercourse because my cervix is sensitive when AF is near so often times it'll kick start AF but even that's not working at all! In fact the only thing that did happen was ONE time I spotted for 15hrs..... just like w/ my pregnancies with Kailey & Nola.

It can happen. I had a friend who's wife took HPT and had blood drawn and all came back negative. They had to insist on an u/s because they were pretty sure she was pregnant. I think she was 3 months along.

It happened to me with DD. My Mom was like "Your preg, you know" and I took test after test for weeks and all were neg. I think it was 6 weeks after my missed AF before it actually showed up on a test. I would suggest a blood test.

I think it depends on your body (some people just have low HCG) and on the test sensitivity. What are you using?

Some people do not metabolise the HCG in the 'usual' way for one reason or another. IE it doesn't end up making it to your urine in significant strengths to be picked up by a pregnancy test (but is present in high enough quantities to sustain a pregnancy).

That's fairly unusual though.

I would imagine what is more likely is that you're having an annovulotary cycle (where you do not ovulate). It's perfectly 'healthy', we all will have them at some point, and for some women because they haven't had the progesterone surge/fall during what would have been their luteal phase then their body just meanders along in the follicular stage (pre ov).

If it happens regularly then it needs checking (as conditions such as PCOS cause this to happen) but as a one off, it's not really anything to worry about (although I understand it's hugely frustrating to be stuck in a limbo). And, of course, you should stay aware of other fertility signs (cm particularly) as you may ovulate eventually if it's simply been delayed because of stress/illness...

Bottom line is I don't actually have an answer for you, just possibilites (of which pregnancy could be one)! Could you arrange for a beta with your doctor to put your mind at rest?
