I spoke to my Dr. today, and she is totally ok with us waiting until I am 42 weeks before we try to induce. Yay!! It was way easier than I thought. I also had a stress test and the baby looks great.

The only stipulation to waiting for an induction: if the induction fails I will need a c-section, without trying an induction again (if I agreed to be induced at 10 days, and the induction didn't take, I would be able to recover for a day or two and then try again).

So I am 5 days post date today. Hoping it will not get to that point and that the baby will arrive sooner!

On the bright side- the baby is now engaged in my pelvis and has dropped significantly since last week. Yay!

And remember, it's YOUR body. They cannot make you have a c-section even if the induction didn't work. Doing a c-section at that point is more out of thier convienence than it being neccesary, especially if you and baby are still healthy.

To Andrea... they can't make you do anything! But honestly, I bet you won't need an induction at all. Really try to let go of that idea, especially now since she lifted it until the 42 week mark (which is normal of almost all providers anyhow!). Just foucs on the rest of your pregnancy and don't worry about anything else!

Great news! I'm hoping to get a similar OK from my midwife tomorrow. But here's hoping that you don't even have to cross that bridge!

How are you overdue when you have not yet reached 42 weeks? You know that the average first time mom goes to 41 weeks 1 day, that is average, meaning that HALF take longer than that, right? And that you are NOT post-dates until AFTER 42 weeks?

I know, I know. Try telling my Dr. that! LOL. I knew my entire pregnancy that this could very well happen and I would go past my due date, but I suppose I did not spend enough time mentally preparing for that to happen.
