For those who don't know me, I'm Que, and it looks like I'll be hanging around here a bunch more!
I have three kids and one on the way. My first two were very easy inductions (each at 42 weeks) with an OB due to pre-e and my third was a very swift and easy med-free hospital birth on my EDD with an awesome midwife. I think that birth story is in the subforum here. My EDD for my current pregnancy is 7-24 (so this Tues), so it's sort of a funny time to take over a new host position, but hey! I'm up for a challenge, lol.
A few things about me: I'm a doula, a priest's wife, and homeschool mom. I lean toward the crunchy side of things, but not super crunchy.
When it comes to my view on birth, like a lot of other doulas I know, I opt for evidence-based care. I feel like we are more than capable to birth on our own and need to have faith in our bodies and the process, but there are certain scenarios that do call for medical intervention. I am a big fan of the midwifery model of care and patient/mother/family-centered care.
I noticed during my current pregnancy that this board was sort of lagging, so I asked to host. I'll do my best to help this board become active again, but can't do it without all of YOU. Let me know if there is anything in particular that you'd like to get going on the board and I'll get the ball rolling.
Yay! I didn't realize you were due so soon! Wow, how are you feeling? Any ideas on when this LO will make it's appearance? Are you planning a hospital birth?

I'm feeling VERY with-child, lol. This baby feels so much bigger than my last one. I feel like he's taking over! Hoping to make it past Sunday though, because a client bought me tickets to go see Ina May, Henci, and Mayim speak this weekend (silly I know, but I really wanna go!). Anyhow, every other day has been touch and go this week. Lots of early labor stuff going on. Yesterday I had contractions 5-7 minutes (and about 1.5 mins long) apart all day long. They were pretty woosie contractions though and just enough to be a bit annoying. I didn't think it was affecting me that much, but I have certainly been wiped out all day today. Thankfully my uterus is giving me a rest and I haven't had as many contractions today. I tend to have super fast active labors, so I guess this is just the slow build up.
