If you could go back and give yourself some advice as a first time mom, what would it be?

Myself? I would have lots to say! lol

trust your instincts
you do not have to be perfect
this too shall pass
newborns nurse a LOT, its ok... refer to above line
your house will be wreck for a while, it's ok.
If people offer help - tell them what you need, they are offering for a reason.

I'm sure I could list a bunch more, but those are the biggies

I keep coming back to this thread and all I can think is:

don't start eating fast food every single day when your baby starts on solids, b/c you will gain back all of the pregnancy weight you lost.

I wish I could tell myself that I was strong enough. I was so afraid to feel birth the first time around.

I also wish I could hit myself in the head with a bat and tell myself to take an out of hospital childbirth class.

that the little moments pass too quickly....
that things like a babyshower and people being excited for you DO matter
not to let anyone make you feel like you don't deserve a babymoon

- labour really isn't that bad, lol!
- the lack of sleep SUCKS, but it's such a small part when you look at the whole scheme of things
- it's okay to ask for help

Take a childbirth class. Involve dh more. Don't compromise on birth plans for convience sake. Enjoy the little moments... They grow up too quick. That 3am wide awake time will be missed one day!

That it's ok to say no to medical staff.

To read up on labour and childbirth options before going to hospital.

To take no notice of my ex-partner who had absolutely no sensitivity towards me at that time.
