There is probably nothing anybody can say. Just thought I'd let you all know as I've been posting here.

Before anyone tells me to change healthcare provider, I can't. That's not how it works in the UK. This is the NHS and I can't afford private care.

I hope for your sake and babies that he/she decides to come soon. I think you'll be more relieved and have a happier birth then than if being induced. I feel you'll be so stressed about it you won't be able to enjoy it.

Try to relax and just enjoy being pregnant. I had my 41 wk appt on a wendesday and resigned myself to be induced Monday. Anything can happen. I had dd Saturday, completely unexpected.

Idk how things work in the uk or your history with ds, but what would happen if you just didn't show up for induction? Can you have a nst and ultrasound?

I'm so sorry I hope that you go into labor on your own before they make you be induced!

This is rotten. I hope natural labor comes soon for you so that this can all become a distant memory. And if not, I hope that you receive some more compassionate and competent medical care in the days to come so that you can still deliver your healthy little one with as few interventions as possible.

I could, technically, refuse the induction but since I am stuck as to choice of healthcare provider I really wouldn't want to push things too far and have them see me as too much of a "problem patient" because things could end up so much worse for me if negative feeling builds up. I have already pushed them as it is, not going until what they say is the 42 week mark (by my count from my LMP I would actually be 41+3 tomorrow which is one of the reasons I wouldn't) and they wanted me to be done and delivered by then, and by insisting I won't have syntocinon until they've tried the pessary first (which can take time and doesn't work for everybody) despite going in "late".

As I have been having quite strong contractions this week (even though they don't establish past around 10 minutes apart), have had mucousy discharge and bits and bats of spotting, 2 sweeps, am 2cm dilated and 100% effaced, I am just hoping and praying that it won't take much to kick my body into labour and that the hormones in the pessary will do it. Am spending the whole day today bouncing on my gym ball and drinking tons of RRL tea in the hope it will make everything just that little bit more ready! It's my son's birthday today though so cannot make the whole day about getting baby to come.

Here are the updates from the August DDC..

'Pessary worked, water broke n strong contrax which soon got to 1 min apart from about 3.30, my body was pushing n i couldn't stop it, but was only 5-6cms, n baby heart was erratic, so have had 2 have and epidural. Will text again when news.'

"Baby continued to show signs of distress, so had to have an emergency section under general anesthetic. Cord was wrapped round her neck but last report was shes now doing fine. I bled had a transfusion and will be here a few days. Shes a big girl 9lb odd. Thanks for all the prayers!"

I've been wondering about this - thanks for coming in with an update. Sounds like a really complicated experience, but I'm glad the little one finally arrived and is doing well. I will hope for more good news!

Hi ladies.

Well, the good news is, the pessary worked.

The bad news is, it was no better than the syntocinon. They said I was "overstimulated" and my body went into pushing contractions 1 minute apart but only at 5-6 minutes apart which were causing baby distress. The natural birth was out of the window as soon as the overstimulation kicked off, because they took me down to the delivery suite and were monitoring me and baby so closely despite my protests, I wasn't even allowed my TENS machine though Shaun had it ready and kept asking and asking.

I will post a birth story sometime today or tomorrow in between looking after baby on my DDC and post the link, but sadly won't be posting it here as it was as far from the natural birth experience I hoped for as you can possibly imagine and I know lots of you ladies want to read only positive stories. Pics to come first though, you can definitely have pics! Thanks for all the thoughts xxx

That's 5-6cm dilated, not what I said. JM won't let me edit.
