I hate, hate, hate needles. I hate even a small prick in my arm, let alone a needle going into the epidural space near my freaking spine. No, thanks.
But honestly, I had no idea how common place getting an epidural was until I became pregnant. I didn't even think that medicated child birth was an option for me, and I didn't want it anyway. Women have been birthing children without medication for several thousand years, it's a rite of passage that I didn't want to miss out on.
