or squatting? I think it sounds like the optimal way to deliver but how did you hold your self up?

my legs shake uncontrollably when I am pushing and that is the part I really seem to lose it for. I tried the birth stool for my second but still ended up dleivering sitting in bed.

I pushed a bit on my hands and knees. It was the most painful way I pushed (also pushed sitting up and ended up delivering on my left side) but I think I made the best progress that way. I just held myself up, sometimes dropping to a sort of squat on hands and knees (hard to explain). I think I might have also pushed a bit that way leaning on the birth ball for support.

I was almost upright when I pushed, the table I was on was came apart kind of like a birthing chair and I held on to handles to push, it was actually very comfortable

I pushed while laying on my back. It was comfortable and I only had to push less than 15 minutes before he was born. I might try something different with the next baby (whenever that may be) if that position doesn't work as well.

I birthed my second son on my knees leaning over the edge of my bed.

i would have loved to, and i think about it a lot, before i'm in labour, but... it just doesn't work for me. i just CANNOT focus. i wouldn't say i "panic", but when those really nasty transition contractions hit me, my body freezes up, and wants to sort of curl up. so i end up laying in the stupid hospital bed, bracing myseld with the bars, or holding my legs, just pushing for all i'm work. i totally admire anyone who can manage the pain in another position. awesome! i would love a water birth, next time, but i don't know if i can do it. i need to have more faith in my body, eh? :S

Yes, I squatted through the bad contractions with my third son and delivered him on hands and knees and it was a really easy birth compared to my other two boys, who I delivered semi-sitting in hospital bed.
So I will let gravity do it's work for me again this time around

JaQinthebox- iam the exact sa,e way when transition amd pushing times rolls around. I planned on a waterbirth for KAe and planned on delivering her leaning over the side if I could do it or semi relcined.
