Okay girls, I will get around to posting my birth stories here, I promise... but I've had two somewhat traumatic natural births, previously, that were unintended (to be natural, that is). therefore... you get the idea, i was very unprepared, scared, tense, severely lacking confidence in my body's abilties/instincts, and generally just upset that the whole thing didn't go as i wanted/"planned".

for number two, i thought... okay, i did it before, and if i have to, i can do it again, but i would rather not. but, now that it's over with, and i've survived two unsuccessful NOT-wanting-to-go-natural births, with flying colours, i've been thinking more about a homebirth and/or waterbirth, for next time. this is how it's going to be, i'm obviously meant to be doing it where i'm comfortable, since it only takes me a couple hours to get started, and minutes to transition and crown... why rush to the hospital and have to do it THEIR way, when i can do it MY way, anyway, and better. i sort of feel cheated for not being able to move around to progress labour, and find comfortable positions to counter the pain, and then be able to feel it HELPING. i KNOW i have an amazing and beautiful experience waiting for me, and am just saddened that i didn't reach this realisation sooner... but, live and learn, it may not have worked for the best, with my son, when his heartrate was decelerating in the 11th hour.

after the first, i bled heavily, and feared for my life, should i try a home birth without emergency equipment... things went better the second time, and while i truly, fully believe that i'm simply NOT quite big enough down south, to deliver without tearing/cutting (let's be rational, and face it that some women DO grow bigger babies, and they aren't going to come one leaving one's genitals intact, no matter how much you prepare, or how effective your techniques/pushing are...), i think a homebirth is no longer out of the question for me! VERY exciting, as you can imagine!!!

i'm not sure what my point really is.... just to share... i'm not thinking of conceiving any time soon enough to ask for advice on midwives. will start flirting with those ideas sometime next year, i think. i am sooo glad that i can open up to this idea now, as i really believe home is where the baby should logically be born. right?! of course, i'm sure most of you can back me up, here. why in the world should an uneventful pregnancy need to be overseen by seven specialists, in the sterile, unforgiving, impersonal white room? this will be a big goal, or rather, an awaiting achievement, for me, and i'm happy to share with and bask in it, here. i look forward, very excitedly, yet patiently.

I'm happy you're at least thinking of possibly doing a homebirth this time around. The midwife I had was excellent. She attended all three of my homebirths and 3 of my SILs 5 births. My SIL bled alot with her third and the midwife handled everything wonderfully. And she's knows when people have to be transfered to the hospital. She's VERY good at what she does. So I wouldn't worry about you know the bleeding heavily and stuff. I remember from before that you live in the Macomb area... so once you TTC next year and if you're still looking into homebirth as a possibility let me know. I can give you some numbers and stuff.
