Is this the one where she got an infection? Im gonna go read it lol.

Ive heard several "deadly" situations lately - seems theyve been swept under the rug, and immediatley postpartum if there are any issues & they get sent to Critical Care the powers that be are trying to get them eliminated from the statistics related to maternal health & epidurals saying theyre not "OB" or maternal patients anymore. Sigh.

I know that is an extreme situation, but true nonetheless! So sad....
I used to work in an orthopaedic clinic and we saw our fair share of women who
had severe back problems after epidurals. Another reason to go natural if you can.

Poor family. They had the epi for the same reason most people give, to not feel pain. I bet they didn't even look into natural birth at all.

OT: quote from the article "In fact, the government’s Centers for Disease Control says one in every 20 patients—nearly 2 million people— will get an infection while they are in the hospital. An estimated 99,000, Americans will die this year from hospital acquired infections." One in every Twenty! I had no clue it was that high. I wonder how many of the 99,000 are infant males who underwent circumcision.

It is sad. Honesty with tact is more important then ignorance with happiness.

Many times I have seen women talk about how they loved their epdiural, but in that same breath they say they got a fever during labour and had to have a c-section. How do you get something injected into your nervous system without first knowing the side effects? Epidural's can cause fevers. Fevers have to be taken as infections. And if you have an infection, you have to have an emergency c-section!

Ignorance is not bliss. Thanks for the post.
