Emomoms post about how fast Felicity was born and how she wouldn't want to repeat prompted this post.

All my labours were relatively short and hard. Kae was born in just about 2 hours. I had been having contrations for about 2 months but she was 9 days late. Her labour was really fast and really intense. She was born in just one push. My other labours were short too Aidan was 2.5 hours, Ashlie was 4.5 and Brandon was 9 hours.

I used the EPO vaginally from week 38 with Kae since all my tohers had been late also. I didn't know that it could cointribute too such a quick birth but I can take the quick birth over the 9 hour one anyday. IS there any dangers in the EPO causing such a quick labor?

(I can't type EPO without thinking of EVO and Racheal Ray. )

I dont know anything about the EPO effecting the length of my labor but I'd take my fast labors instead of a slow and steady one any day. Makes things more interesting when they are fast

Well, this is my first, so I'm going on pure guesswork here! I've been having constant contractions for about a week now and I'm dilated to three. This labor had better be short after all this! I just want to be able to keep control and to make it to the birth center or hospital in time!

I dunno. I did EPO with my last (only 5 hours and induced 4 weeks early)

The first two labors were 7 and 11 respectfully... not sure if there was more of a coorelation with EPO or pit with my last... hmm...

I never did the EPO but I think my labor was pretty short and sweet-- 5 1/2 hours from the time contractions started (water broke an hour before that) and he was 3 weeks early. I'd be too scared to try that with the next one, I'd probably end up having the baby in the car on the way to the hospital! After I delivered Liam the nurses told me that with my next one I should just camp out in the hospital parking lot a month before my due date. I'll take short over long any day!

I dont know much about EPO.... My last labor was well over a day from start to finish, but I too had regular contractions for at least a month and a half before it was real labor. I was "due" on June 28, and gave birth on July 20th.... Personally if this EPO will give you a quicker labor, maybe it is something that I should try this time!

And... LOL about the Rachael Ray comment! I watch that show every day!

a quick labor can cause you to tear from stem to stern, or tear up instead of back. But EPO isnt usually the cause of freight train deliveries, they just happen. Im not sure of risks other than lots of tearing and/or blood loss for the mom.

I don't think EPO makes a difference. Mine were all pretty slow and steady.

Id take slow and steady.

I went from 2cm dilated to delivering the placenta in 90 minutes-Id much rather a longer labour so I have time to get a babysitter and god it hurts so much more the quicker they are,IME anyway.

This may be a stupid question..what is EPO?

Mine came hard and fast..I got to the hospital at 2 am ...he was born at 3:01 am. I couldn't of asked God for a better labor!

I would personally prefer to have a slow and steady labour.
