I went to meet my mws backup (an OB) as I didn't like her alt backup (a MW). He is great. He is completely hands off.
Saying he hates traction on the cord - only produces problems - and he would rather get me into a squat and push indepenantly to have the placenta (yeah for me, who has a history of pph).
He also wants to try to have the baby born in the caul as it is 'really cool to see that' so he won't break my water (which is routine with most docs nowadays).
Also, he gave me the option of a pelvic. I said sure since I have been doing my own these last 5 weeks except for last week (when I was diagnosed as not-quite-1 and thin). I am nearly 4cm and REALLY thin. He expects this to be my fastest labor. Yay for me physically - not emotionally as dh is 3 hours away in Chicago M-F.
SOOOOO... that's my update. He told me to go home and either:
a) keep busy and he will look forward to seeing my babies pics and birthstory on their wall come monday
or
b ) lay low and try to make it through the weekend without any midnight runs to the hospital
LOL- That's awesome! My husband is travelling all the time too. I am going crazy and so afraid he wont make it! Well - take it easy until hubby gets home! Good luck!
