If you have breastfed, or plan to breastfeed... how long? Do you set a time, or let baby chose a time?

With my DD I dont know where it went wrong. In the 10th month things just stopped working for us and we quit. This time my goals are for way over a year. I want to nurse him as long as he would like to nurse.

with DD I breastfed for 13months and only stopped because I had to go on some meds.

With this one the goal is one year, but as long as she wants to.

I hope to bf as long as my hypothetical children want to, even if they're adopted. Here's hoping!

I BF DD for about 7 months and DS for about 9 months. The milk basically dried up when they started sleeping through the night. Most "experts" recommend going longer, but I'm still pretty proud of myself, especially since most people I know didn't even BF at all.

With my first I was planning on b/f for a year, until I went back to work, but around 6 months she lost interest and everything stopped. Not sure why or what went wrong, but she had no interested at all any more and every time I tried she would just scream, so I pumped and gave her bottles from there and was a much happier child.

I'm planning on the year again with this one, we'll see how it goes.

I BF my son 6 months. I was very proud of that since he is a special needs child and was in the NICU for a week. I had to pump the first 6 weeks.

I am hoping with this baby I can go a year but of course it all depends on how it goes.

With my son he and I were both ready to stop at 6 months, he was totally fighting it. Hopefully it will go better this time.

I'm still breastfeeding my 17 mo old. I do not plan to wean her at any point, she will self wean when ready. I'm actually breastfeeding while pregnant right now and plan to tandem nurse them if my dd is still nursing when the new one arrives!

Still nursing my 3 1/2 year old once a day...guess that says it all.

My oldest weaned at 16 months, during the beginning of my pregnancy. I was hoping to make it to 18 months.

I plan to nurse Evey for at least 2 years.

I did not BF my first son. I didn't know any better and everyone was like, Just give him a bottle!

With my second son I nursed him until 15 months and only stopped because I was in pain every time he nursed. I don't know if it was because I was pregnant again or what, but I was very upset about it. He seemed OK with it as he was only nursing to nap and sleep at night, but I was depressed for a bit there.

I'll nurse this one for as long as he/she will take it.

I plan on ebf for at least the first month and a half, but after that I will have to pump, seeing as I will have to go back to work. Still 100% breastMILK, even though she will be getting it from a bottle part of the time. Besides, DH agreed to take the night shift, and who am I to turn that down? As for how long, since later they go to pretty much just nap and bedtime, I will probably go to about 18 months if she wants to.

Liam weaned himself when he was 13 1/2 months, about 3 months into my pregnancy. The pregnancy wreaked havoc on my milk and he lost interest. I was very sad for a bit but it's ok now and I have a six month break before I start all over again. I hope to nurse this one longer, we'll see when he decides to give it up.

Malachi weaned himself when I was pg. It was about two months before he turned 2. This time I really hope to make it to 2 years.
