Hi girls I had a few questions for you that have had a natural birth. For my daughter I went wothout anything for about 18 hours then ended up having a c-section. For the next baby (when we get pregnant) I am attempting a VBAC and I will have one unless the baby is in danger. Anyway my question is I have already talked to my doctor and he is supportive of VBAC but there is also a MW in my area who does VBAC do you feel I will be more suppoted if I go with her than an OB/GYN? I really really want a VBAC with the next baby and I know that I need someone who will support me 100%.

I feel that MW's are more caring than Ob's but it's completely up to you. Some Ob's are just as sweet and caring. Maybe you should think about getting a doula to support you through labor and keep up your spirits during a natural labor. Good luck!

IMHO, midwives are are usually the best way to go if you want a supportive natural birth especially if its a VBAC. You should make up a long list of questions that you would want to know from her and make sure you ask them all and you feel comfortable with her. Lots of OB's will say that they are supportive of your choice until the time comes and you are in labor and then things change. But like the PP said, maybe you should look into getting a doula, either way. You just need to meet this MW and talk with her and feel her out. You might find that you dont like her and her style at all. If it were ME I would definitly check out the MW. I drove over an hour IN LABOR just to be able to deliver with a MW instead of my OB because halfway through the pregnancy my OB totally changed his tune about what he supported. Not all of them are like that, thank God but you have to be careful especially with something touchy like a VBAC.

Oh, WELCOME to the group! Glad to have you here! Congrats on your pregnancy!

I would lean more towards a MW, as my experience and knowledge points more towards them being supportive, but there are some GREAT OB's out there. It's really up to you and who you feel is going to work with you 100%. Best of luck!

Definitely midwives tend to be more supportive. OBs have a tendency to come in at the last minute to catch while midwives stay with you and support you through labor as needed (of course that depends on the midwife).
