Hi Ladies,
Kinda odd question maybe but i need to ask, with my son i wanted a natural birth, no interventions.i clearly stated that i dont want my water breaking. When i arrived at hospital after nurse checked me internally i had a gush of water coming. i said you werent going to do it, nurse said it usually happens while internally checking. She didnt do it intentionally but broke my bag of water. I was so dissappointed.. Is it possible? I think she pushed her fingers too far.

Well I know that when they strip your membranes that it can cause your bag of waters to break , so I would think that if she really did go in that far and wasn't trying to be easy about it then it could have ?

I had internal checks with both my births and my water didnt break. I guess its possible, thats why its best to keep internal checks to a minimum and to DEMAND they be gentle when they do them. Also watch for tools going up there... they can be so deceitful.

I had a natural childbirth and my doctor accidentally broke my water while checking me when I was 9.5 cm dilated. I know she wasn't rough and I barely felt her checking me, I think sometimes it just happens. I am sorry that that happened to you.

It was probably an accident. Just one of the many reasons not to have internal exams unless really necessary. Drs and nurses so often seem to want to check way too much!
