I listened to the first track of my hybobaibies program last time the "Special Place" it was relaxing. I felt like I was floating in a pool on a warm day for a good part of it. My time preception was also thrown a little. (40 minutes felt like maybe 15)

I gotta go my older dd is pounding on the key board.

I got mine too! I listened to my Special Place track for the first time last night. I transferred all the tracks over to my iPod, set it to play that one track only, got in bed with my pillows situated, put in my earphones, turned out the lights, and listened. I fell asleep within 5 minutes. I don't really recall anyhting that was said. But I woke up instantly when she said that it was the end of that track...Weird, I know. But I'm so excited to be doing it and practicing! I even listen to the Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations CD in my car on the way to and from work. So relaxing on my commute!

Ooh! Ooh! Can you please share your story with us? Like when your pressure waves started, your birthing experience? I'm also curious about how far along you were when you went into labor?

Me too. Please share.

Since I first posted I've listened to "Painless childbirth" tract 2 disc 1 and listened again to tract one. With track 2 I drifted into more of a dream/sleep like state. In fact I didn't even hear my little girl giving her daddy a hard time until the very end. I did the same when I relistened to tract 1. I really don't remember listening to track 1 the second time. The last 2 times I "came to" when she started counting. It was really kind of wierd because I did it was she hit number 2.

Anyway I'd love to hear everyone else's experinces...

HI Ladies, Lurking here in the nat. birth area...

I did a natural hypbobirth in Oct 2006, it was wonderful. It wasn't the hypnobabies program so I won't ramble, if you want my experience let me know and I"ll post it. I took sessions with DH and an hyposis specialist and did the cd's and such.
Practice, practice, practice is my advice! It was wonderful as I said. First time mom, I was induced at 5:30 am (not my choice but in the end it was fine) I had pitocin on max dose, got in the tub at my hospital (yes my hospital had a tub) with my cd, DH and my mood lighting and he was born in 6 hours, pushed for 20 minutes. =)

Yeah I'll be beginning class three tomorrow and I fall asleep during most of the tracks...but she says that its fine and that your inner mind is listening and knows what to do. I often wake up at the end of the tracks also...I've tried to not fall asleep though. Tried listening to a track when I just wake up...sitting up....middle of the day...it doesnt matter, I fall asleep. Sometimes I know I'm not sleeping though....its more like deeep relaxation....so I know its working.

Sorry I didn't check in for a bit! Okay, this is going to be long. I had a birth story written out shortly after I gave birth and my computer crashed so I lost it!! I need to write it all down again.

Before I start, I want to note that I introduced my doula to hypnobabies. She ordered the hypno-doula workbook and did her best to support me in this. One of her other clients heard about hypnobabies from me at a childbirth class and ended up using it the week before I did. My doula said it went really well! My birth was a typical hypnobabies birth in that the labor was much shorter than 'average' and that no one knew how far along into labor I was just by looking at me. I talked to my doula again a few weeks ago and she has had six hypnobabies births since mine and she said it is absolutely wonderful.

I gave birth at 39w0d. She was 8 lbs. 8 oz. and a chunky monkey so I'm glad she knew she was ready to come out.

It actually started with my water breaking at 1:45 pm. I already had an OB appt at 3:45 and even though I was *supposed* to go straight to the hospital if my water broke, I decided to play it cool and go to my OB appointment anyway. At least we could check the HB and postpone the hospital a bit longer. I called my doula and told her the plan, took a shower, and gathered the rest of the things for the hospital. I tried to eat, but it was hard to focus on eating. I did stay really calm throughout all the preparation though. I'm not sure when I got my mp3 player out, but I do know I had my hypnobabies track in my ear by the time we were in the car headed to the OB. My OB is always running behind, so we got there at around 4:00. We ended up waiting probably an hour, but I just sat back and relaxed with my hypnobabies track in my ear. I forgot to mention that I did have pressure waves that started by 3:00. I think they were 10 min apart but I really wasn't focusing on them... ever... so I don't really know for sure. They were just 'pressure' like they were supposed to be. The OB finally saw me and checked for amniotic fluid (not believing that my water had already broken ). When she checked me, I had another big gush of water. She also noted that I was 1 cm and 90% effaced. (I had been fingertip dilated and 75% effaced a week earlier.) She told me to get dressed and go straight to L&D. Well, because she had just caused my water to break a bit more, I immediately had a pressure wave that was a little more intense. I didn't want to move during it so I sat and relaxed for a minute. I remember her popping her head back in, expecting me to be dressed, and I told her I was waiting for the contraction to finish. I know she was thinking "if you can't move during this one how are you going to go natural?" But she didn't understand, now did she? It wasn't painful because I was relaxing! Anyway, from there on, I noticed my pressure waves lasted a little longer and came more frequently. There were in no way painful however, but I did need to breathe and concentrate so I remained relaxed.

I got to the hospital at 6 pm. They had me put on a hospital gown and lie down to have monitoring for 30 min. I was okay with that because I wanted to lie down by then. I put in 'first stage labor' while my doula gave me a massage. I don't think the monitor was picking up my contractions(that happens to some people) but I wasn't paying attention. During this time, a nurse came in to put in my hep lock. She couldn't do it. She tried twice but I didn't feel anything but pressure as I was totally focused on my relaxation/hypnosis. They decided to wait until later. (After all, this was my first baby and I was going to be there all night, especially since I was only 1 cm when the OB had checked me just before 6... ) Finally I was able to get up from the monitoring and I sat on my birth ball. The nurse asked me a million medical history type questions. What a joke. I kept breathing through my pressure waves and things kind of went in one ear and out the other. It seemed like forever before the nurse finally left us alone. It was probably 7:30. At that point, my doula was ready to get serious. She knew the monitor wasn't picking up very strong pressure waves and she didn't want them to pressure me to have pitocin. That word had already come up! She was also watching me breathe through my waves and she assumed they weren't long or strong enough. Looking back, I was just really relaxed and into my hypnosis. My waves were just where they needed to be. Nevertheless, she did help me ramp up the waves a little more. She did a few squats with me and I did some lunges during pressure waves. It wasn't long before that was making me feel really tired so we stopped. I decided I should call my mom because I hadn't had a chance to tell her I was having a baby! I sat on my birth ball while I talked to her. By the end of our conversation, I was starting to stop talking during pressure waves. I told her I was feeling like I wanted to get back into bed. This was about 8:30. I got into a comfortable position on my side, and my doula massaged me. I also listened to my hypnobabies track. The next 30 minutes I was completely and totally relaxed. Just before 9 pm, DH left to go get something to eat because he hadn't had anything all day. Within a few minutes after he left, my pressure waves really picked up. I had intense pressure in my back and my doula had to put counter pressure on my hips to relieve the pressure. I started feeling a little bit yucky and wanted my DH to come back. Doubt also slipped into my mind. I thought "active labor" had finally begun and that there was no way I could do that all night. Luckily, the cafeteria had closed at 9 and DH had to came back. I grabbed him around his neck and told him not to leave. I started sweating. Little did I know at the time, but I was having all of the classic symptoms of transition! (I forget the hypnobabies word for it... sorry! ) It wasn't long before I began vocalizing through my pressure waves. I remember telling DH not to worry... It didn't hurt, but vocalizing helped. I still would characterize my waves as very intense pressure. My doula's counterpressure was very helpful. I think I was having back labor. I would lie down on my side between waves and get up on my knees during the waves. At one point, I remember getting on my hands and knees and noticed the sensation changed. My doula was pressing on my back during the wave and the next thing I knew, I had an urge to urinate. So, I got out of bed and went. I don't remember having any pressure waves while I was going. I came back to the bed and got on my back because the nurse wanted to check me for the first time.

It was 9:45. She said, "I feel a bunch of hair. I think she's fully dilated. I need to have someone else come check." I was really confused. Where did the hair come from? I was expected a bald baby. Another nurse came in and confirmed that yes, I was 10 cm dilated. I was really surprised, but elated. I couldn't help but be excited. Then all hell broke loose. My serene hypnobabies environment was shattered. Nurses began running around everywhere. No one had put in my hep lock. No one had drawn my blood. The OB on call wasn't there. So, I had 10 people in the room within minutes. One was drawing my blood while another was putting in my hep lock. Luckily I had a 15 min break in pressure waves. At 10 pm they started again. This time they felt a lot different. They were pushing waves. I was no longer in hypnosis. I was freaking out. #1 I wasn't ready, #2 everyone else was freaking out. I wish I'd had a chance to regroup and use my hynobabies at that point. I remember laughing and joking with my DH so it wasn't that bad, but it definitely wasn't the ideal hypnobabies plan. Anyway, I pushed on my hands and knees for about 30 min and it felt good that way. When they heard from the OB and she was on her way, they asked me to turn over. The OB didn't want to deliver standing on her head. It hurt to be on my back. I was in a semi-sitting position, but it felt like I was flat on my back. I wasn't breathing like I should have been by then. In fact, I remember my fingertips tingling from being so tense. The OB arrived at 10:40-45. I could already see part of the baby's head. Each wave brought the head out a little further. Finally I was crowning, and I could see everything in the mirror. It was almost too much to look at. No one was coaching me and while I probably should have held off for one more wave, or waited to push between waves like hypnobabies suggests, but I just went for it. The next thing I knew she was on my tummy then I was holding her. She was born at 10:57 pm. She started nursing within 10 min or so and nursed for much of the 2 hours I was with her in the delivery room. I ended up with 2 first degree tears, but I felt great after the birth. Nothing compares to the natural high of childbirth and meeting your baby for the first time!
