I have been having GI probs off and on for a year or two. After having an endoscopy today (that was normal), the specialist scheduled me for a HIDA scan of my gallbladder. This is a test where they inject you with radioactive material and watch the gallbladder contract, etc. I'm concerned b/c the test is scheduled on CD 15 - I tend to O anywhere from d14 to d21. I've been trying to do online research, but not coming up with a lot. I just don't know if I should refuse the test, since we are TTC? Or, is there no real risk so early on? I'll probably try to talk to my docs about it, but thought I'd see if any of you ladies have had an experience with this. Thanks!

Did you ask the doctor? I needed an MRI when I was pg. They wouldn't do it until I delivered and I had to stop BF for 24 hours as they didn't want the baby being exposed at all. My family doc also made me have an hcg in order to let me have the test a few days before. See what your dr says. Maybe you need to not TTC that month for the test? That's been my only experience, maybe someone else knows?

Thanks, that helps! I think I will call the doc on Monday, just to be sure.

Just lurking.... sorry... but I work in radiology.... (not in nuclear medicine) but I know a little bit about it. Honestly, you should be fine. According to what you are saying, the earliest you usually O is cycle day 14 and you're having it done on cycle day 15... well implantation will not occured by then, and THAT is when I would start worrying. The first trimester, especially when the egg is dividing multiple times and going through changes... THAT is when most of the damage if any would be done due to radiation. If you were past the point of implantation, I would tell you to definitely postpone it! That being said, I am not a Dr and you should probably consult your Dr. If you're having gallbladder problems, you really need to get that taken care of.... you don't want to put it off. Good Luck!

I would definately check with my doctor. I agree with Xanda (Toni) that the cell division is very crucial, but I (personally) would worry about it at all during the 2ww. The reason I say that is that cells are dividing from basically the moment of fertilization and I'd be worried about the radiology stopping that. You should get the gallbladder issue taken care of and you may need to wait a month to get that done before TTC. Good Luck and keep us posted on what the doctor says.

BTW, I noticed that you added a FF ticker to your siggy. We'd love to have you in the Chart Stalking Room. Are you interested?
