Well, I just got off of the phone with my doctor's office. I got good news and bad news...............

Good News::::::::::: Is that I did O on my own (which I already knew this)

Bad News:::::::::: My Progest Draw came back as a 7.6...............they want it to be at least a 10. BOO!!!

I guess it is a good thing that I started the clomid last night after all.

Do yall have any suggestions to help me get my progesterone numbers up??

Natural progesterone cream if you are wanting to do it yourself. Will they not prescribe you vaginal prog suppositories?

I asked the nurse was there anything I could do to help make that number rise and she said "no." I guess they want to see what the number goes up to after my first round of clomid. I'll probably suggest the cream when they call me back after my next round of bloodwork if it has not risen any.

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll keep the cream on my list of things to look into and/or buy!!

Where would I get some of that if I do decide to try it on the next cycle? Where can I buy it at? (Online, or what stores?)

I'll take all of the help and suggestions I can get!!

Yay for ovulating on your own!! That's great!! I don't know much about the progesterone cream, but I would talk to your doctor about it first before going out & buying it. I found this article that has some info: Progesterone Cream - Can Over-the-Counter Progesterone Cream Prevent a Miscarriage

I'm not sure why the nurse said no, there are things that can be done to raise the prog level.

Mine was always low, which is one of the reasons I have a short LP (around 11 days on average) so my docs have me take prog supplements when we were TTC and I continued to take them for the first trimester during the pg to until the placenta took over. Along with the supplements my doc advised that I continue with my walking daily as exercise will get the blood flowing in our girl parts down there and improve circulation, also to eat a diet including walnuts, cherries, whole grains, chicken, red meat and I believe soy milk (I'll have to check my notes). I wasn't a fan of soy milk so I didn't include that.

I've also heard that if you increase your Vitamin B-6, it'll also help with prog levels. I took a prenatal vitamin so I didn't take any additional vitamin supplements.

Ummm yea, not sure what your nurse was smokin....

I'd push for supplements to start after you O. There is NO reason not to take them. Too much progesterone is not going to hurt- especially monitored, but to little can. I have routinely been given suppositories (now thankfully they switched me to Crinone which is much better) during every MA cycle.

Becky,

I am taking Pre-natals and extra B6 and and extra B12. My LP was 11 days on my last cycle. Were your prog supplements prescription or over the counter? Do you remember what the name of them were? Thanks!

Sam,

You are so funny!! My cousin had to use the suppositories when she had IVF and she said they were fun!! NOT!! She said that they were really GROSS> i heard one of the ladies on one of the JM Borads refer to them as "Cooter Shooters!" LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

I hope it doesn't come to that, but if that's what I have to do and deal with to get my next baby....then BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!

I'll see if I can lookup the name of the prog supplements I took. I know they were twice a day, but can't remember the name offhand. My prog supplements were prescrip and I inserted them vaginally and it was a bit gross, especially the 2nd cycle (that I got pg on) when I also had to start taking estrogen too. Estrogen were these little blueish/green pills, prog were these larger yellow pills. Together they made this disgusting bright greenish goop. Let's just say that panty liners were my "best friend".

If you decide to breast feed, then you may not need them even longer after that 10 months!!

I lost a baby 10 months after we got married. Docs wouldn't do any testing until I'd lost 3, so I started researching on my own. Between charting temps, fertility signs, etc., and taking a hormone saliva test, I pretty much figured out I had nil progesterone. I still lost one more baby before carrying my first to full-term...and then yet lost another. But no more since then and my cycles are like clockwork now with hardly any sign of low progesterone.

Here is a page with lots of links I've put together through some of the research I did in discovering my problem: Helpful Links - CPT It has links to saliva tests, progesterone creams, articles, etc.

I also took Vitex after my first miscarriage and continued taking it until I got pregnant and then slowly weaned off. I've also heard good things about red raspberry leaf and evening primrose oil as good female hormone balancers. I know for me I didn't mess around with low progesterone......I've lost too many babies to want someone else to go through it.

Hope you get your levels up!

Btw, you can also get progesterone creams at your health food store. BUT make sure they say USP progesterone in the ingredients or somewhere on the label. Some natural creams only have wild yam in them. And while that may be good, I still think it needs progesterone in it. Look at the link to Dr. Lee's website, he has lots of good info on natural progesterone.

I would recommend you use a progesterone supplement if the doctors wont prescribe you some,
try this Amazon.com: Emerita Pro-Gest Single-Use Packets 48 ea: Beauty . it is all natural usp progesterone 20 mg per single use packet . I rub it on my abdomen twice a day during the tww to prevent another chemical. if you get your BFP you continue using it till your in the 2nd trimester. Good luck!.
