I had a miscarriage last night, and I have lost the baby.
I know that some of you ladies have gone through this same thing, so what can I expect next? What will the doctor want to do? How long will I cramp and bleed?
Thanks.

Hey Dara,
I posted in the April club, but I am so sad for you. I don't know what to say. I haven't been through it, so I can't give you any advice based on my own experience. I've just been so sad and worried for you since I read the other one.
I know with some miscarriages they do a DNC, but I don't know how far along you have to be before they do that.
I'll check back here to keep in touch with you guys.
Big hugs.
Hannah

Oh no! Dara I am SO sorry!!! My heart is breaking for you!!
I had my m/c at 6 weeks and bled for 4 days with about 3 days of cramping. About a week after the bleeding ended, it started up again (lightly) for a couple of days. I also had spotting for a couple of days after that. I didn't have to get a D & C because my body took care of everything on it's own. You should definitely talk to your doctor and monitor everything because if your body doesn't expel everything, you could get an infection. A D & C will get everything out. I wish I could tell you exactly what to expect, but unfortunately everyone is different and all miscarriages are different. Just make sure you pay attention to your bleeding. If you start going through a pad an hour and/or it's really painful, get to the doctor right away.
I'm sending you big hugs and hope that you're doing ok. I know how hard it is.

Oh Dara!! I'm so sorry!!
What to expect all depends on your body. If you are m/cing naturally, the doctor will want to monitor your HCG to make sure it drops to 0. should only be one or two blood tests a week or so apart.
If you body doesn't do what it's suppose to, you can try medication to help expel the tissue, or a D&C.
If you need anything or just need to talk, I've been through all except the medication. Big hugs!!!!

Thank you everyone. I went in for an ultrasound today at 11 a.m. The ultrasound showed that I had "passed" everything on my own and that my uterus is now "clean." I am still bleeding a good amout, but it is no longer the "clots"..........sorry TMI. The ultrasound also showed that I have 3 cysts on my right ovarie, so maybe that is one of the reasons that I have not been ovulating on my own. I go back to see my docotr at 11 a.m. in the morning to see whats next and where we go from here.
Thank you Ladies for all of your love and support. I hate that so many of you know what I am going through because you have suffered the same losses, but it is so comforting to know that you all understand. I'll update you when I have more information. Thanks again for being there.

I am so sorry for your loss
I had a m/c at 14 weeks before we got pg with Nolan, it was heartbreaking. They avoided dnc d/t my difficulty with ttc and I passed baby the next day on my own. Bleeding lasted like a normal af (after all the clots and ER visit overnight), and we were told to TTC as soon as we were ready. We got pg with our term rainbow baby three months later.
Sending you peace and love ((hugs))

Well, I went to see my doctor yesterday. He could not give me a reason this happened. He said that 1 in 3 pregnancies end in a miscarriage. I was unfortunatley the 1 in the 3 this time. He said that he knew that I had not done anything differently with this baby than I had done when I was pregnant with Trevor. He said that we can TTC on my next cycle if we wanted to. He said that my next pregnancy would probably normal and healthy.....these things just happen sometimes.
He said on a positive note, that I did ovulate and I did get pregnant..........so that is a GREAT thing. It just really sucks that this one ended like it did.
Thank you all for your love, support and prayers. It helps soooooo much to have you all for a shoulder to cry on. You all are GREAT!

It's never easy to hear, that it's just he law of averages working against us. Glad though that he doesn't think there isn't any other reason. Hope the next cycle is it for you. It is supposedly true that you are more fertile after a m/c.

Dara, I felt the same way when I had my loss. I know that the chances of a healthy pregnancy are good, but it definitely doesn't ease the pain of the loss. Knowing your body is ovulating is a great sign though. Best of luck to you!

I asked my doctor if that was true about being more fertile after a miscarriage (like you are after giving birth) and he said in some cases "yes"..............so that's kinda of what I am hoping for. I don't think I am going to use OPK's this month, and I couldn't use the clomid until my next "official" cycle, so if it happens then GREAT!..........If not I'll start up re-doing everything that I was doing this cycle when I got pregnant.

So sorry for your loss, I got pregnant and M/C on my first clomid cycle as well , make sure they do a U/S to check your lining before ovulation. I believe a thinned out lining is what kept mine from sticking.
oh and I have heard your more fertile after a M/C as well. good luck on the new cycle.
