Are any of you doing anything to remember 9/11? Did/do you have family members or friends directly affected by what happened?

I am having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that it's been 10 years already. In ways it feels like it just happened yesterday. What a horrific day that was. My BF & I will have his daughter here that day and I think I would like to do something to teach her what happened and to appreciate what our heroes did to save and try to save people.

That sounds like a great idea! I was actually pregnant with my son 10 years ago on 9/11 and I remember feeling so devastated by what had happened, as we were bringing our first child into the world. It really shook my sense of security. I think I might follow your lead and do something to honor those who died that day and the heroes, too, to teach my children about that day and the lessons that can be learned. Thanks for sharing!

I'm planning to observe a moment (or many moments) of silence to honor those who perished...I lived in DC at the time, was actually out of town (with my then fiance, now DH) and we were flying home that day (flight was grounded as the attack happened an hour before our flight was to leave). Such a terribly tragic day, and as Savannah grows old enough to understand I plan to share my own experience that day and the bravery of the many individuals who saved victims in NY, DC & PA so she can hopefully appreciate what a life changing event 9/11 was for so many.

I can only imagine how that would make you feel. It was totally like we were so vulnerable! And such a scary time. I'm sure there were so many questions going through your mind.

Oh wow! You must have been terrified! How did you feel getting back on a plane once you were able to?

I Aldo have a hard tome believing it's been ten years. I'll light a candle in remembrance tomorrow.

I set up a Care Package drive at work for the troops overseas. We have almost 2 whole grocery carts full of stuff...I'm so happy. I'm taking Matt to two parades tomorrow to help honor those in service. I had my niece over the other night and we watched a show on TLC about the two flights, the people and when they hit. I kept asking her if it was too much, but she was totally interested because she really hasn't been told much about it, just what little she has heard lately. She was only 2 that day. In fact that was the day that her mother found out that the baby she was carrying had almost 100% chance of having Downs, which he does.

I am totally in shock that it has actually been 10 years already. Seems like it was just yesterday....
