At least on what happens after you get pregnant.
When I saw him on Friday, I asked when he was releasing me to my perinatologist. He said he wants to see me one more time, but then they would release me to him- and that my next 'medically necessary' appt would be the NT scan. I mentioned to him that I know that my peri will want to at least discuss a CVS with me due to my history with a confirmed case of Trisomy 18.
He said he would wait till after the scan then consider the CVS. Problem with that is the optimum time to do a CVS is between 11 and 12 weeks, the NT scan is done at 12 weeks.
Anyway they called my peri and made me an appointment for the NT scan when I would be 11 ½ weeks, so I called the peri myself and talked to the nurse, who agreed with me that is way to late to start discussing it. So I’m seeing them right after he releases me from his care. Its funny I have so much faith in him as an RE, he is awesome. But it was a little wake up call that he isn’t an expert on all things pregnancy.

I'm glad you're on top of it. My RE released me pretty quick, and I seen the regular OB and the peri after a few visits, so I guess their expertise is getting you pg but nothing much after that.
I completely agree that we need to be very well educated ourselves because the doctors aren't always right about everything. My OB called me to tell me that I tested positive for the cystic fibrosis gene and caused me a tremendous amount of stress. It turns out that he read the test incorrectly.
Moral of the stoy, always get educated! I had my first baby at age 45 and spent a significant amount of time learning everything I could. You can read about my learnings at pregnancyover40now
