Hello all,

I am 39 and my bf and I have been joking about having a baby but last month had heart to hearts about having one. I do not have any but he has 2. I was on the pill from 17 up until Jan of this year. I worry that will affect my ability to get pregnant. Obviously this is our first month trying so I do not expect much but if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. I have an OB appointment in a couple of weeks and I've read things about going ahead and getting on pre-natal pills so I plan to discuss that with her.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the board!!
Making an OB visit is a good place to start! I also recommend starting a pre-natal vitamin too. With us older moms it's important to get the folic acid built up in your system.

BTW- I'm Sam(40) and DH is Jim (41), we have a DS who is 21 months and are currently expecting #2.

Hi, I'm new here also, and like you I was on birth control for a long time and now TTC. Due to moving around in the next couple of weeks, I can't see my provider until December, so I'll be interested in see what your provider has to say to you and what labs are done if any. Thanks for sharing

Hi and !! This is a fabulous board and we are all here for each other! I agree that starting with the prenatals is a great idea, along with getting in the habit of eating healthy, as if you are pregnant. Every little thing we can do to help our bodies is good.

If you haven't started already, I would also recommend charting your cycles with either taking your temp with a basal body thermometer, using OPK's, or checking your CM &/or CP. Ideally, a combo of all would be the best to figure out what your body is up to and make sure you are ovulating. If you have any questions about any of it, don't hesitate to ask! It can be hard to get into the routine, but once you are in it, it becomes easier and it'll just become part of your life.

Best of luck TTC!!

Hi and Welcome!

I agree with the other ladies........start on some prenatals ASAP.

I am Dara, DH is Jason and we have 1 DS named Trevor that is 22 months. We are currently expecting our second blessing in May of 2012.

Good Luck and I hope you get your BFP soon!
