I went in to see my doctor today to go over my HSG results and figure out my options. From her analysis, there actually seems to be something wrong with both tubes and she highly recommended that I go to the specialists. She said we can try 3 months of Clomid and IUI but obviously, that would be kind of a long shot right now. She also said that if I do get pregnant, she will monitor my levels and everything else extremely closely as she is afraid of the potential for a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy. Scary thoughts, but I appreciate that she is already thinking ahead of possible complications. I decided to start off by having a consultation with the specialists to see what they think. They may tell me my only chance is IVF. I hope it doesn't come to that, but it's a very real possibility. The good news is, obviously, I have already managed to get pregnant so it's not impossible...it's just much harder for me at this point. They are sending in the referral to the specialists and will call me to set up an appointment. I left there feeling really discouraged. I think part of me hoped she was going to say that she had double checked my HSG results and everything was fine. Oh well. I will just have to wait and see what the other place has to say.

If your tubes are just blocked or partially blocked that can typically be fixed very easily. I hope you get into a good RE.
She is right though, if you have something possible wrong with the tubes 3 months of clomid and IUI would kind of be a waste.
I'm sorry it wasn't the results you wanted, but hopefully this gets you a step closer to getting your perfect baby!!

Oh man. I am sorry something is wrong with your tubes. I hope they can get them fixed for you and you don't have to go to IVF.

I should probably ask my RE why he hasn't done a HSG on me yet. Although I am not looking forward to one by any means.

Thanks ladies! I hope the specialists can pinpoint and fix the problem. Sam, the only issue is that they aren't necessarily blocked. The doctor isn't sure what's wrong, but she saw enough to be concerned. Gretchen, I'm very surprised your RE hasn't done an HSG. My experience was horrible, but from everything I've read, I'm in the minority. Most women just feel some mild cramping. Plus, it is a very quick procedure, so even though I was in a lot of pain, it was over right away. It's definitely a good thing to have done.

((hugs)) I'm sorry you didn't get better news and hope you can get in to see a RE soon and get more answers on what the problem is and what can be done.

and I too had a miserable HSG. It hurt like heck, thankfully only a few moments, but boy did it hurt. I was only expecting the mild cramping that most ladies typically get.

Becky, I'm sorry you had the same type of experience! I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone!

Missy, she's not sure. She said it might be some abrasions or something. Some dye did come out of both of them, which is good...but it wasn't as much dye as they like to see. The thought of abnormalities is definitely scary. I'm sure the specialists will be able to interpret them much better and get a clear idea of what is wrong.

Sara,

I am sorry that you didn't get the good news that you hoped for. At least it sounds like she is being pro-active and you will get to see the specialist pretty quickly. I hope you get your sticky rainbow baby really soon! (((HUGS)))

Thanks ladies! You are all so awesome!

I got a call from the specialists. Well, actually they called my mother accidentally and left a message for me. Luckily she heard it as Boston IBF instead of Boston IVF so I think she's clueless about what it really was. I was pretty ticked off that they did that though. Total violation of privacy. I understand that somehow numbers can get mixed up but wow that was a big mistake! Anyway, I have an appointment for a consultation on November 7th. I'm glad that I was able to get in so soon. I was worried that it would be a few weeks. This will give me time to get my charts printed out and come up with as many questions as I possibly can. I'm nervous because they only have male doctors there and I've only ever had female doctors for my womanly issues. I looked up the doctor I'll be seeing and he seems to have some great qualifications though, so I'm sure it'll be fine. At this point it's only a consultation, so it's not like he'll be poking around my nether-regions yet anyway.

Don't worry about the male doctor, I think you kind of forget gender when it gets to that point. Both my RE and Peri are male. Although, almost all exams with my peri are done by his nurse/midwife.
With my RE I always figured, he does this all day, everyday. It's nothing to him.
