ACK!!! I missed a call from my doctor's office and just listened to the message from the nurse. Based on the estimate on when I will ovulate, it looks like my doctor won't be in town to do my IUI!!! So my choices are: take the Clomid and hope my doctor is there when I ovulate, take the Clomid and go down to the specialists in Portland (3 hrs each way), pay $150 more, and have them do the IUI, or skip this month altogether. I have until Wednesday to decide since that's when I was supposed to start the Clomid. I won't do the option of going to Portland. That just doesn't make sense to me. So, now my options are to wing it and do a lot of praying that I ovulate at the right time, or wait a month.
That does suck! If it were me I would take the risk and take the Clomid. What's the worst that can happen besides you ovulate while the Dr is away. You can still DTD and try any way right?
I think I would take that chance too. For me, I O'd earlier on Clomid then I did without it. Maybe you'll be the same and your doctor will be here. Are they doing monitoring u/s after you take the clomid to check status on the eggies?
Thanks ladies! The only reason why I'm hesitant to go ahead and do the Clomid anyway is because if I don't get to do the IUI, then I've used up a cycle with Clomid for no good reason. Since taking it for too long can thin the lining, I want to make sure I take it on cycles where I have the best chance of pregnancy. I'm going to call my doctor this morning and see if there's another doctor in the practice who could do it.
I just got off the phone with the nurse and I explained that if I ovulate 5 days after I stop the Clomid (like I did the last time), then I would be ovulating around Friday, Dec. 2. It turns out the doctor will be in town that day as well as Saturday the 3rd. Sooooo...the tentative plan is to take the Clomid and hope I get a positive OPK either the 1st or the 2nd. She even gave me the doctor's cell number in case I get a positive after office hours. I feel really good about this plan and we're going ahead with the IUI!!
Here's wishing you a timely "O" After your post about the thinning uterine lining, I don't plan you for being hesitant. It isn't good on the body to be on Clomid for too many cycles.
