so, who braved those Black Friday sales???

I stayed far far away, but always love to hear stories of who did get out this year or if you've shopped this crazy weekend in the past.

I was crazy enough to do it! A friend and I got to Walmart at midnight and it was a madhouse! Luckily, we only had a couple of small things to get so we were in and out in an hour. Then we ventured to the mall, which was practically dead. It was so nice and relaxing to just wander around Macy's without dealing with people pushing and shoving. The other stores in the mall that were open too were also fairly empty. Then we went to Kohl's and that was a whole other story! YIKES!!! The line for the registers went all the way around the store. Kohl's had provided people with these big cardboard boxes with strings so people could just throw stuff in the box and drag it. We decided that it was not worth it to stand in that obscene line for just a few deals. We ended up at Old Navy and found some great bargins there, which were worth the wait in line. That line wasn't nearly as bad...we "only" had to wait for about 1/2 hour. By the end of that, we were exhausted!! When I got home, I went straight to bed and didn't get up until 1pm!

I worked on Friday, but there were no crowds in our little town. Everyone was at CVS on Thursday morning when the doors opened and did their shopping then.

I stayed far far away from any big stores on Friday. I tried to hit a few maternity consignment stores, but they were all closed.

I wish the shops here would stay open a bit later. Most everything here during the week opens at 9am and is closed by 6pm, so by the time you get home from work it is too late to go shop. And you do not want to go to a mall on Saturday after payday and Sundays everything closes around 1pm. I miss 24hr shops, LOL.

Sarah - seems like you were the "brave" one among us. I worked retail for many years, and dreaded that day. I still shudder remembering the fight over singing Barneys.

Laura - The small town I was raised in was like that, everything shut down at sunset. I think they do have 24 hour Walmarts now though, so it's not as bad. Here in the DC metro area, there are tons of stores open late and even overnight. The malls are still crazy though on weekends, if I must hit the mall I go first thing in the morning.

Sam - I hope you have better luck with the maternity consignment shops. The few maternity things I used for my pg, I got at thrift stores/goodwill/salvation army, etc. I couldn't see paying a small fortune for maternity clothes I only wore for a few months. Especially being petite, those seemed to cost even more. I also loved the Just My Size pants with the elastic waist, I purchased a size or 2 bigger and wore them for the pg. Very comfy, and could be professional looking too for work.
