What age would you say is to old? I've been chatting with the woman who is 47 years old & she has one (yes, only one) egg left. Don't you think 47 years old is getting a little to old? Plus, what is the chance that that egg will even make it. I think she said it's been sitting there for something like 7 or more years.

I'm sorry, but I honestly HOPE that her egg proves you wrong!!!!
I'm almost 50 and have every intention of having another baby...whether it takes a year or five years!

Tell her I said, "Atta girl!"

I think as long as you are able to have a child and are prepared to raise the child with all the love it needs and deserves, then there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't try no matter your age. IMO older mothers are calmer, more settled mothers!

Maybe her egg is waiting for just the right moment. That may just be her 1 little miracle in life I hope she catches that egg.

I don't think any of us can say what age is to old to have children for anyone else. It is each of our own decision on that. I hope your friend catches that egg. Lots of luck to her!!

I'm assuming that her egg is in storage. (no way to tell if your ovaries have only one left I don't think). If she is prepared to love and care for the child, then she should go for it! I agree older moms tend to be calmer and more self assured. Good luck to her!

Ditto! The best of luck! I'm 45 to be 46 in two months. So this time next year I will be on my way to 47. I hope her egg turns into a baby!

I agree with the other ladies that it's a very personal decision and every family is different. I don't see anything wrong with a woman trying to conceive into her late '40's and early '50's. Good luck to your friend with her egg. I hope something good happens for her :-)!!
