Hello all,

Well, even though we BD'd while I tested positive for OV AF still visited. Disappointed is all I can say. I really do not want to get crazy about TTC and I told myself last month I wouldn't buy OPK again for a 3rd month, but now I find that I am debating on testing. TTC is very emotional. And the fact that I have until Sept to get a BFP adds more pressure. I really don't want to get wrapped up and then be let down if it never happens. At 39, what is a realistic time frame to expect to get a BFP. I've been off the pill a year and up until Oct I wasn't testing and still nothing.

(((hugs))) Sorry AF showed Kerri. What cycle day are you on now?

How long were you on the pill before you went off? My SIL's Dr said the the time the pill needs to get out of your system very much depends on how long you used it. I know there are some ppl that conceive almost instantly, but I don't think that happens as often as it may seem.

(((Hugs)))) I know it is hard sweetie. It was so depressing month after month having AF arrive. Since you've been off the pill over a year now, can you go see a doctor just to get things checked out? I can't remember your insurance situation, or if you wanted to or could do that. The docs typically want us to TTC for 6 months (us "older" gals), and 1 year for the most couples. For me, I wish I had pushed our doc at the 6 months range to test DH too. We instead had another 7-8 months before we learned that he had severe MFI, and that there was absolutely no way we could/can get pg without assistance. (not that I'm saying there are any problems with you) Also, beyond OPKs (which unfortunately are expensive and don't always work for every woman), do you track your cycles? Temping or checking the CM and/or CP. I did that and learned so much about my cycles, and when you have erratic ones like mine, it makes you feel much more in control. TTC can/will still be stressful, but for me when I feel more in control, I tend to handle the stress a little better.

Good luck sweetie!!!

Thanks girls!! This will be our 3rd month TTC. I am on CD6 today. I do track AF and when the OPK has said I am O, I change the date in my tracker. I know SO is ok as he has 2 children already. I was on the pill for almost 20 years. Always worried that if I found the right one that I wanted to TTC with, being on the pill that long would affect me. We have both kind of said we would NTNP but it is so hard not to try. I am not really familar with check CM, etc. I have had pre-cancerous cells twice and surgery both times. The most recent being a year ago last month. I talked to my OB and she said the surgeries would not affect my ability to get a BFP. I have started on pre-natal vitamins and try to be good about taking them but sometimes forget.

Thanks for the support!!!

I was on the pill for 17+ years myself, and had the pre-cancerous cells a few years back but no surgery. The docs had told me that it wouldn't affect me getting pg, but may affect dialation and possible delivery when we did get pg. With the pill, it doesn't take that long for it to be all out of your system.

I personally found tracking (and more then just when AF arrives) helped me out alot dealing with the frustration/stresses of TTC. If you have some time, check out Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - Fertility Charting - it's completely free and even if you don't start tracking with their online stuff you will learn tons about your body and the signs to look for. I also thoroughly recommend the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It too is filled with lots of helpful info.

and of course, we are all here to answer questions and provide any assistance that we can.
