Well I am 42, and newly married (been with him 7 years) as of Friday July 13th. Right around the time the DH proposed to me he decided he wanted to try to have a baby. When we met he told me he never wanted kids. He held pretty firm to that. Now that he is at a decent job, he wants on. He sees families and I find him watching them.

Anyway we have tried since June so haven't tried too long. He is prety disappointed because he didn't even think that it took "trying" he thought you just did it at bam you wrre pregnant haha...love his innocence on the whole thing. Every time I start AF I can see the disappoinment in his face. I told him it could take months even years to get that baby.

My history is I have on m/c at 11 weeks about 8 years ago. I had to have a D&C . At my recheck the doc told me my body looked totally healthy, uterus etc. He asked me to talk to the now ex about his history, and it ended up he had a gf with 3 previous m/c so they doc was thinking it was more on his side (heavy drinker and pot smoker) Anyway I am digressing.

I guess I am just looking ffor some support from others going through this (older and TTC) We have not told anyone since we don't need the extra stress of people asking if we are preggers. We want to keep it to ourselves.

So what I am doing is taking a prenatal vitamin daily and folic acid. I eat very healthy (Lost 54 pounds doing WW) So the meals just kinda stayed healthy after I met my goal weight. I work out and run when it is not too hot here. So much healthier then I was when I was preggers before the m/c

We tried pree seed for the first time last night. Liked the feeling of it because well after so much BD time I tend to dry up down there. My DH did ask me last night is there anything he can do to help with his spermies? He cut out caffiene , he does not smoke, takes some rx meds but those shouldnt be a problem. He was just wondering if there is additional vitamins he can take etc.

Ty ladies, I look forward to meeting you all And I anxiously await any advice.

Hello there!

Glad to have you on this board, and this is the right place for anything you may need: information, support, a place to vent, etc.

My DH and I have been married for about a year and a half and have only been TTCing for 2 months now. I'm 38 (39 in Dec) and DH is 42. I'm also a type 1 diabetic, with very irregular periods, and I'm overweight. I'm also on WW and I've only lost 13 pounds, but I'm in this for the long-haul, as you mentioned. :-) Congrats on sticking with it and losing your weight!

I'm not sure about helping your hubby with his piece of the puzzle, but have you gotten/read the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book yet? I know there's some advice in there for the man, but this is one of those things that are mostly the woman's deal (like what isn't, right?). Having said that, I'm sure there are things that can be done.

I'm sorry to hear about your M/C. I have never been PG (as far as I know) so I can't relate to that, but I can certainly understand it would stay with you forever.

And, mentioning the TCOYF book reminds me... Are you charting? The book gives you really explicit directions/advice on how to do it, and it's very helpful to find out about your cycles (you may already know about this, I was unsure after reading your posting).

Anyway, feel free to ask any other questions or seek advice/understanding. This is a fine group of ladies on these boards and we are all willing to help as much as possible as we've been there/done that.

-Christi

No I have not charted yet. Since we just really started trying recently. I have tried the whole charting thing in the past and it confuses the heck out of me. I guess I need to read up on it a little more. I will have to check that book out. Thanks for the recommendation!
