I bring this up because I am sure mine is not the only one that does this:
When he is not feeling well, I leave him to rest/sleep as long as he has to. When I know he is awake I bring him a cup of coffee or water and something to eat (usually in bed) and mollycoddle him a bit.
But when I am not well, he for lack of a better word "panics". He doesn't understand why I am not smiling, or don't want to go out and socialise, and constantly asks what is wrong, LOL. Don't get me wrong, I love him to bits and he tries so hard if I'm not well, but he just can't cope
That's a simple one its cause they are men !!! But we as mothers start the ball rolling bringing up our boys to be like it .also its in the genes they have that male gene where when they ill they just stop dead and take to there beds. They can also never find anything .like socks ! As woman have to be strong we get ill.we still have to carry on even when we can't smile we just dose ourselfs up with meds and hope for the best .
OMGoodness!! I am seeing first hand how men are as young men through my oldest. HE can't find things either, and boy does a small thing like a cold turn him into a tot again. My hairy manbeast is even worse!
Men are babies when it comes to pain. DH is no exception, and when I'm down and out for the count, NOTHING gets done in the house. I recover to a house LITTERED with dishes, clothes, books, toys, etc. And then the best of all - he yells at me for cleaning, because I need to rest! Well if I don't do it, then it won't get done!!!!
And I know what you mean with the "what's wrong with you, why aren't you smiling" stuff. If I don't practically do cartwheels every time he utters a word, then I must be upset, sick or not paying attention to him. I am EXHAUSTED with showing him the proper amount of enthusiasm for everything from his work place stories to brushing his teeth!
