Since March, I feel like I'm in someone else's body. Nothing is working the same. So I'm starting this little thread to ask you all some VERY personal questions about your cycles to find out what's normal and what's well, normal.

We all know that practically no one has a 28 day cycle. It was always my belief that as you got older your cycles got longer. But even though my eyesight is now more farsighted, my cycles are shorter.
Anyone else on a shorter than 28 day cycle?
Anyone on an irregular cycle?

It used to be that CD 1 was the day AF showed up - and by AF, you meant steady flow. Is that still the case? Or is AF now just dribs and drabs? For a few years now, I have had cycles that don't have steady flow, but spotting for a day, then flow, then spotting, then nothing, then spotting then flow. You get the general idea. Anyone else?

The textbook definition of AF: Cramps, moodiness, headache, bloat, etc. Anyone fit that textbook? Or have you written your own manual? Do you have to rewrite it pretty much every cycle?

I always gained water weight during AF. Who didn't right? But in the past few years, that wasn't always the case. My weight fluctuated for various reasons and not always because of AF. Anyone else?

Ibuprofen for cramps/headache - a staple. Not anymore. Ibuprofen doesn't do squat. Does our body chemistry change that much that it doesn't react the same to meds? Anyone else?

I'm not happy with these changes. I don't like my body now that I'm older. Ready to trade it in for a newer model.

My cycles are 27/28 but use to be every 28 days. Last month was a fluke it started a day early. When I start my period, I start with no spotting. The flow isn't as long as it one was 7+ days, more like 4 to 5 days.

My moods vary cycle to cycle. If anything it's gotten better the older I've gotten. I use to borne able to function for 2 days. Although a couple of cycles all energy has been zapped and I have to sleep for a day.

Weight gain has been big in my 30's but I blame it on having children and late night snacking. It could also be because of my IUD. Although I've lost over 25lbs without dieting. I'm still overweight being 4'10 and 123lbs.

Medication for bad cramps is Vicodin and for headaches I have to take Aleve or Excedrin for headaches.

I've only gone 2 cycles of TTC so I don't really know how short or long my TTC journey is goin to be. I won't be trying after September so if it's going to happen for us, I have a very short time for it to happen.

Anyhow I'm still trying to figure out my body and cycle. Before TTC I got my bloodwork done yearly. I won't seek out a fertility specialist if it doesn't happen for us by September, or at least that is what I'm telling myself now.

My cycles are about 28-30 days long.

I usually spot for about 5 days before my period. Yes it sucks. Sometimes it's on and off. But the first day of your period would the first day of heavy red flow. I would think even if it stops and starts. It's not uncommon for that to happen.

I usually cramp for the first day and that's it. I did have a lot of pain and cramping and nausea before I had my endomentriosis removed.

Yes, right now I'm up 10 lbs. Unfortunately I know the reason. It's the cursed onion rings the local diner sales :|

Ibuprofen is not what it use to be in my opinion. I only take it as an anti-inflammatory. I take Excedrin Migraine for pain. It works miracles.

I'm not happy with the changes in my body either. But we're stuck with what we are stuck with. lol

Out of curiosity, is "heavy flow" what it use to be? When I was a kid (I mean teenager - early 20s) I used to be cursed with such heavy periods I couldn't leave the house the first day. Now I can use a tampon on my "Heavy flow" days for up to 6 hours and not worry about leaking.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, "light flow" is really just a spot on the TP and no need for a panty liner.

My cycles are usually 28 days long, also I have all the textbook symptoms - like you said, cramps, moodiness, headache, bloat, etc
Yet, nothing has happened for me in the last 3 months, and I've been trying really hard... well, I guess even exchanging this body for a newer model would not help in my case haha kinda sad, no...?;

For the most part my period is no where close to the heavy periods I use to have before kids. The first day is the heaviest. Like I said before I never spot before a period. Now a days I change my tampon/pad every 2 hours and most of the time I'm no where close to needing to change it.
